Couldn't help but notice the loss of a sticky usually at the top of the lists, and by wandering down the page, I saw the Profiler thread had been locked with a rather definitive message from Danalog...
Quote:
extensive rewrite of profile editor started, this thread is now obsolete. I'll re-open a profile system feedback thread once the new system is complete

Frankly, I stopped using the profiler months ago when it was obvious that the thread was being ignored, for whatever reason. While Magelo is great, I for one wouldn't mind having working profiler here, for both convenience and one less bill to pay (yeah I know it ain't much, but it could buy beer instead! Smiley: boozing ). So I thought a good question to post to the group would be what would you like to see in the new-and-improved Allakhazam Character Profiler??

I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more customizations on the website, such as the ability to add images / character shots to each character. Also, a fly-over listing the stats of a displayed item might be slick too, and of course the ability to customize the method of displaying the inventory and contents ala-GUI (think about it, EQ-GUI's are open source, and already follow a set standard).

If you're interested in seeing the profiler grow, come on and post your ideas. And if not, toss in too; I'm sure there are a bunch of other projects the programmers could work on if no one wants to use it!

Fire away! Smiley: motz

1) For the printable character sheet to show your equipment with your augments in them.
2) For the printable wish list to show the effects on the items. (Helps to know I am replacing something with mana regen with an item that doesn't have it.
3) For the printable wish list to show the cost of vendor purchasable items, primarily DoN or LDoN items.
4) Allow the equipment to have all the proper slots. (Can't add slot 11 or 12 augments in the cultural armor)
5) When searching for upgrades, it would be nice to be able to include augments when comparing the upgrades. This is especially essential for cultural armor as the base armor isn't that great until augmented with the cultural augment.
6) For the AAs list to go beyond Gates, possibly even up to Depths. Smiley: grin

Hope this helps.

To be honest, I use the export to HTML function more than the upload to Alla's function.

I'd just like to request that it not be left out, if this is a complete rewrite, as implied by Danalog's message.

I can't wait for it to work, would love to be able to copy/export the printable version or any version to Excel or something so I can format the data (yeah I know obsessive).

Of course it needs to cover all expansions. It would be nice to have an option enter stats on an item not in the database to cover future expansions until the profiler can catch up.

I would also think it would be nice if the printable version and the on screen version matched, a pesky little detail that annoyed me when they didn't.

Oh yeah, and bring back the ratings on the posts. Oh wait, that doesn't concern profiles...

I tried using the Alla profiler for EQ a couple times, never could get it to work right (and was WAY too tedious for my liking.)

So, I kept using Magelo, the auto-updater works like a charm, and the display is nice and concise. It does lack any printability tho.

When I started WoW, I shopped around for a similar thing and then saw the WoWReader offered by Alla. The WoW profling is much much nicer looking than (what I remember) the EQ one does. It has the auto update ability and a nice simple interface for viewing. (Not sure about adding items, since I never have to do it.)

While, I still will likely use Magelo (habit and I have no need for printing) as my main profile thingy, having one tied to here will be a huge benefit for searching for upgrades and such.

Well, with all that said, if it was Danalog that created the WoW profiling system, huge props to you, if it wasn't, huge props to whoever it was :p.

And finally to my point...
It would be nice if the EQ profile was as slick as the WoW one. I know there are differences with slots, augs, and all that, but I am confident that it would be able to work decently (even if it's less like the WoWReader, but using the same general idea).

Since I don't use printed stuff (I don't even own a printer ><) I can't really suggest anything there, but exporting to HTML, PDF, XLS, or Doc format would most likely work (there are free readers for everything out there, and DB to XLS is usually a pretty easy thing).

(You can click on the image in my sig for the WoW Profile if you'd like. I lack, but at least you get an idea of what we get on that side :p.)

(Also, did Alla's EQ profile ever get an autoupdater? I really don't remember if it did or not. If it did, you can disregard that portion)

I don't have suggestions for improvements yet, because it's been such a long time since I used it and then went in to check on my characters, but since I have been playing more lately, I sure notice NOT being able to update them. I levelled a lot this weekend thanks to the double experience, but my profiles are still out of date.
I like to use the auto update profiler to see what each character has on when not in game, then print them out so when I'm in the guild hall using the guild bank or in the bazaar, I have an idea of what I need to buy or which character can trade items w/ another.
Kind of rambled. Sorry. I'm just sorry it's not working at the moment because now that I've levelled, I could use some armor upgrades, but am unable to compare every character w/o logging them all on and WRITING everything down. NOT good. Hope it's up and running again soon.
