"Rashere - For the Prophecy of Ro warhorse, I'm planning to allow you to turn in the claim item along with a normal bridle and receive a warhorse that moves at the speed of the horse summoned by that normal bridle. So, you can either use the base speed warhorse or get yourself a faster one through the turn in. "

-from the stratics dev chat last night

also briefly mentions that Knights may get some sort of deal to turn their mounts into warhorses (said it might not make it in this expansion though)

Did they change the graphic yet?

Whereas my DE FEMALE enchanter might like a pretty pink pony to prance on, I doubt my OGRE Shammy does...

Would be great if you had the chance to "upgrade" the warhorse by buying a faster horse later and then combine it with the warhorse... just a thought (for those who don't have a horse yet but will have the money to buy one in future)...

I want a war drog or even something meaner looking like a mounted dragon. Horses can kiss my ***. Smiley: grin

I wouldn't mind horses if they made them more evil looking for the evil races. Something like the horses in LoTR. So far mounts don't really have that 'evil' look. I want a mount that looks threatening. Something that'd you'd be scared to approach.

I want a Lair of Terris Thule skeleton horse for my Shadowknight. Or, if not that, I'd settle for the flaming footed gloom nightmares in PoN. Same model, just add particle effects to the hooves and make the eyes red.

Personally I think the Paladin and Shadow Kinight are getting the Raw end on this deal.

Historically and in most fiction it is the Knight with his/her noble War Horse that traverses the land doing all those knightly things. Yes I know we get the Holy Pony...the fastest mount in the game but come on now.

The Pally/SK steed should be a bit more....like saddlebags and the ability to fight for as well. I would be fine rez'n my horse if it could help in a fight!

Just my Smiley: twocents

Aye, a knight should be able to fight (easily) from horseback. Horse-pet should provide dps. If your horse dies, be able to rez it, or if you fall, your horse can drag you out of the battle for a rez...

/shrug, I'm just happy Knights get a fast *** horse without having to spend 100k.

Ahh they also mentioned the Knights horse
Quote:
Sprite - *KyrosKran* Following up on Rashere's comment, will allowances be made for knights with holy/unholy steeds to obtain the new warhorse model?
Rashere - I'm hoping to be able to give knights a special upgrade to their signature mounts, but I'm not sure its going to work out yet so it will have to be a nice surprise if it does.

We can hope ehh

I, too, agree that combat from a horse - especially a WARhorse - should be beneficial, not detrimental. Perhaps something along the lines of a moderate +ATK bonus. Making horses almost useless to anyone except casters is pretty retarded.

To see a Troll riding an Alligator.. now this would be priceless.

This is easily the funniest idea that I'd honestly have no objections to in game I can remember hearing at the moment.

Not as far fetched as you may think, have you failed to notice that trolls lost gators and now have ugly basalisks? Something my wife's 70 beastlord is very pissed about...

Oh my god, I'm so happy I made an Ogre and not a Troll... until they change the bear pet to a new kobold model pet

Yes, mounts.

I think that mounts should be able to be varied more than they are, perhaps customizable. You should be able to attack while on them (specifically for the melees). As such, you should be able to armor them, and have the armor visable. Also, you should be able to have the "packmule" ability, where you get some extra storage from them through backpacks.

It would be nice if they were "class-specific" mounts, or a ability to do so. For example, having a shadowknight horse be a skeleton, but through an additional AA. I would love to see wizards have their "drake-mount"...

Now as beastlord pets go, I always felt you should be able to ride them. But with that, they should be able to be customizable as well. For example, my bst is the white furred Vah Shir, and his warder is the tiger stripe. It would make more sense to have the warder match...so if your using the black panther fur on your bst, then you can make your warder appear like a black panther.

Back to mounts, new ones would be cool as well. How about one that looks like a "scaled wolf" (iksar bst pet). Or perhaps something that looks like an ostrich? A troll riding an ostrich..would be pretty damn funny!

that would be cool

Ok I play a dwarf pally and a rogue and I dont want melee types fighting from a horse. It is hard enough getting to the mob if some Ogre warrior or SK is in the way if they were on a mount forget it. Just not enough room around the average mob. My rogue needs room to move. Remember casters are sitting behind the action looking on not in the way.
#19 Feb 24 2006 at 6:51 PM Rating: Decent
All of my characters are caster or priest classes except my rogue. I thought the "warhorse" would be geared for melees somehow...but since the rogue cannot BS from a horse, then there is no benefit. So... I guess my enchie gets an armored horse...totally ironic.
