I was wondering where players go to hang out and LFG and at what levels. Im currently level 10, almost 11, and Im kind of tired of questing. I feel like xp grinding with a group for a while. I have done the first PoK armor quest. I still havent been able to group much either.

well, alot of lfg people just hang out in pok or their guild hall. others actually go out and solo until they can get a group.
at your level, i would try kurn's tower on kunark. chances are there will be other low teens characters there to group with. after that i would reluctantly recommend paludal caverns on luclin. after that you have more options, there's netherbian lair (currently an xp hot zone), unrest, etc.

The old world zones, that being kunark, velious, luclin and even PoP to some extent, are largely deserted now-a-days (I know that PoP doesn't apply to your level). So I have to disagree with the above poster in saying that you can get a group in something like Kurn's tower. But doesn't mean you can't, and during certain times I have no doubt that there are people in some of these old world zones. But I find it highly unlikely that you'll get groups in these zones with any consistency.

But he was right is saying that PoK is a place to sit and LFG. Really anywhere, with the LFG tool. Players can search you out from anywhere in EQ. There is nothing wrong with Paludal Caverns. The xp is great, and you're more likely to find a group there.

Of course, there's also Monster Missions. That seems to be where a lot of the lower levels tend to hang. There's some animosity from the player base concerning these missions. But you can group with someone of any level and get really good xp (of course really good xp is relative). Check out the thread near the top of the list in these forums, called "Monster Missions-The Master List".

I will say this, if you end up going the Monster Mission route. Be sure to group and xp in other normal zones with your character as well, whenever you get the chance, such as PC. Make sure to keep his/her skills up to par. Such as offense, defense, spell skills, ect.. Evidently this is a concern among many of the higher level players, in that they're seeing people leveling all the way up to 70 on MMs and having no skills, spells, and gear. Learn to play your class.

But in all honesty, the best place to find groups for your level is in the zones that have MMs. Try HHK, thats the latest, hottest MM, for now anyway.

Sadly I suppose, the game really doesn't start until you're in your 60s. The older expansions are lifeless. You may be able to find a family type guild, that has levels similar to yours and want to group in some of the old content as well.

Good luck.

To me it seems that at level 10 you'd have better luck figuring out where the lowbies are, showing up and OOC'ing a lfg. There's usually a group or two in PC, Unrest, Warrens, and Netherbian Lair when you get a little higher.

Yeah, I think you'd have your best luck by going to those zones where the people are. You can find out where they are by doing a /who all 10, or /who all 11, or whatever.

You may need a level or two more before you can take on some of the more traditional low level xp zones. As well as those mentioned above I would try Kurn's Tower in the Field of Bones, it's always been occupied when I've been there.

Right now, at level 10 try Crushbone in Greater Faydark or possibly Blackburrow in Qeynos Hills.

Good luck!

I suspect more than anything EQ's downfall will be new players not being able to group there way up in levels and without new blood it will slowly spirl it's way out of existance.

I've leveled three toons from start to mid 50s in the last month. Here's where I had the best luck finding groups:

Kurn's Tower 10-25- soloable and good for small group, stick to the skellies on the upper floors, avoid the basement unless you have snare.

The Warren's 10-25- easy to solo here as well, snare would be helpful - they like to run

Paludal Caverns 15-25- a little harder to solo, should be able to take everything but the bandit camps solo

The Overthere (OT) 25-40 -there's usually a few folks at the skyfire mtns zoneline

Netherbian Lair 20-30 - bonus zone so usually find a few here near the middle

Echo Caverns 25-35 easy side or 35-45 hard side - bonus zone and lots of people here, I usually had a group within just a few minutes of zoning in

Gunthak 35-45 - still a popular place for groups on the beach. Can solo here, just stick close to a wall on one side of the beach.

Dulak 40-55 - still groups hanging out on the boats. Should be able to solo here with most classes mid-40s.

The Hole 40-60 - great zone, but you'll want to have a group together before you head down here. Start your own in POK

Forgotten Halls - any level, instanced zone

Head to a zone and put up LFG. Use /ooc to state you're LFG too as most times peeps don't look for others at these levels. Try and solo while you wait. While you won't find full groups in most of these places, just having one other person join you can make it much easier to hunt.

Actually the backside of Paludal, enter from Shadowweavers, is great xp for level 10-15. Start with the bugs and shrooms and work your way up. You will make 2-3 levels in one session.

Zones By Level

It does seem that alot of the lower level zones are deserted lately. You'll find alot of people doing the monster missions, as was mentioned. It's a very easy way to level, but you will miss out on alot. I would recommend trying the mission in Highhold Keep only if you cannot locate a group anywhere else. You can alternate between doing a mission and heading over to East Karana (perhaps closer to when you are 15-20th level) and to work on some skills killing spiders and lions. There is some dangerous stuff there, though, so be very cautious if you are alone.

Paludal Caverns is also a good suggestion made by others. Of all the low level zones, I don't think I've ever gone there and seen it completely empty. I personally like Unrest but the last few times I have gone, no one was there.

Your best bet is try to find a guild. Even if they are not of the exact level as you, they can answer many of your questions. If it doesn't work out, you can always leave the guild and find one that suits you better.

If not a guild maybe you could find 2 or 3 others that are new to this game also and are around your level. Don't hesitate to add names of people you grouped with to your friends list and contact them whenever you see them on. Chances are they'll be happy to have someone to group with too.

It'll make adventuring through levels much easier.

Good sugestion, but limited play times can be a problem. I grouped with someone level 12 in EC once, only to log on the next day to find out he was then level 17. He hadnt even done a single MM

Gratzie on him.

Monster missions at lower levels are not such a good idea. You tend to get addicted to the good xp and miss out on all the skill ups for melee and spell casting (depending on what class you are). I highly recommend not doing any MM's for awhile, or at least do them very sparingly. If you do not skill up on your abilities you will definately pay for it later on.
