Mount QuestionFollow

My wife and I each two box, giving us a party of 4. We all have similar mounts (3 drog, 1 horse). All of which are the most expensive variety (bard speed). My cleric has a giant black drum (drog). His mount is faster than any of the other 3 characters. The other two drogs differ only in color (red). The horse is the same color as the cleric drog (black). I can never lead with my cleric, since the other 3 will fall off auto follow due to getting to far behind. When he AF's the others, you will hear his mount slow to a walk at times when the others are running. This happens every day, in any zone, not just a one time thing. None of the 4 are encumbered, etc.

Anyone have any clue what the deal is? Did I win the lottery and get a special drog with the cleric or what?

Never heard of this before. I would assume it is quite possible that there is an unintended small deviation in that one mount but it seems unlikely.

Could it be somehow lag related, for instance maybe the computer the cleric is run on has abit less lag then the other computers thus creating the illusion that the mount is moving faster?

Whenever you are on AF the toon is contantly shifting from run to walk, to maintain a specfic distance behind the leader (very noticable with SOW). Being as mounts take a bit of time to slow down and speed up this can cause problems. Over distance they can even break out of AF. Also if you are 2 boxing the 2nd account is not getting near enough CPU time to keep up, unless you have a duel CPU system. Only true way to test speed is to Race under operator control.

Thanks for the replys guys, but I don't think any of that is the case. Let me explain our set up in a bit more detail. We have 4 computers, 3 of which are almost identical (same make and very similar models), all with the same video card and amount of ram. We have a cable connection, so lag is hardly ever an issue.

Another point I should make. We have another set of 4 characters that we play as well, all 4 of those also have bard speed mounts. I have never had this occur when we are playing those. The mistery is too much for my small brain to figure out!

Have you tried a side by side race, not using autofollow?

Nope, we haven't done that but I will next time we play. I'm assuming that since the other 3 can AF each other and never get lost (unless run into an obstruction or something) that the clerics mount will win. Will let you know.

I have no idea on why, but I have a solution. Race as many peeps as you can and If it really is faster sell it. Say for double the cost and buy one that has same speed as others.

Oh ya I would swap the mount to another toon to see if it still has the same speed advantage. (making sure is not some glitch with the Cleric

Keep in mind the drog jumps. This addition to the Z-cord can make the distance great enough to break autofollow.
I'm not sure, but this is my guess.

Did the race test, and the drog in question was faster. Didn't buy any account, so thats not it. We bought the 3 drogs together, at one time in Gunthark. As to Reo's post, 3 of the 4 mounts are drogs, and we never lose AF with any leading but the one the cleric uses, so I can't see the jump being it.

Must be a fluke with the drog only suggestion now is you let someone else lead

Races of the drog riders? (supposed to not matter but hey)

Smaller/Larger running faster than the others?

Fastest mounts right? so run3 or run5 would not be bleeding through to drog speed (again not supposed to).
