An instanced zone is a zone that only or group or raid can be in. You have to have a task of some type. Basicly the zone is all yours and what ever mobs are up in it are all yours. Most instances are part of a quest or mission.

"instanced" is derived from software terminology.

In some software systems, you define behavior of a "class" of things, and generate "instances" of the class.

That's what is going on with "instanced" zones. Behavior of the zone is defined as a class, and individual "instances" of the class are created, on demand, whenever they are needed.

huh? /em shakes head...who lifted up that rock?

Instanced zones are as stated above, only your group or raid will be able to zone into it, and it lasts only as long as the mission that assigned it.

Examples:
LDoN adventures
DoN missions
Monster Missions

The Guild Hall is instanced as well, but only people tagged in your guild have access to it. It de-spawns if no one is there for a certain amount of time, and re-spawns when someone tries to enter.
