Thinking of starting DAOCFollow

#1 Jun 15 2005 at 4:04 AM Rating: Decent
Like what I've read in the sites and forums for the most part my only 2 questions are.

1. What is the lvl cap?

2. How needed are the expansions played EQ1 up till the froglock expansion, CoH(still for kicks when my roomie needs a tanker), EQ2 (till the vamp expansion), UO till vii I think, WoW for trial got bored). Basically, getting the trial most likely will play past that and wondered what expansions were better then others to get after.

Level 50 is the cap, but there are plenty of other things to do after you get there - Realm ranks, master levels, artifact quests and leveling - and the next retail expansion is slated to introduce even more.

The expansions for DAoC are all dependent on you having the previous expansions - for example, you can't get Catacombs without the Trials of Atlantis expansion. The good news though, is that the Platinum Edition contains all the expansions except Catacombs, and is nearly as cheap as a copy of the original game - if you can even find one of those these days.

I agree with th previous poster, get the platinum edition, its like $20, includes SI and ToA.

If you decide you like the game then definately get the catacombs expansion, instanced dungeons make the level grind easier and the Catacombs quests give ridiculous amounts of exp.

each expantion is pretty good to get. not nessisary per se. but new classes to try, areas to go to, and better grafix. they two other guys are right. get all of em at once platinum and if you like playing catacombs gets better grafix and instanced dungeons that are very useful.

Course if you download the free trial you get SI and can buy TOA for like $10 bucks. That's what I did and then $20 for Cata, so final cost was $30 vs $40 for Plat + Cata. Not a big difference depending on your financial status but I married with 1.5 kids ;)

I just installed the Gold Edition. I played DAoC several years ago and decided to come back with an empty slate (entirely new account. If all goes well, I will get the ToA expansion too.
