Thinking of starting up.Follow

Hello everyone. I recently felt the urge to start playing DAoC really for the first time. I have played pretty much most MMORPG's out there and was wondering how this game is to get started. I know this game has been out a while and usually there isnt very many new players starting fresh. My question is will i be able to advance my character through the begining lvls and learn enough to dive into groups at later lvls and PvP well enogh to compete. I played DAoC breifly, 2 weeks or so, a few years back and didnt really give it a fair shake. (EQ controlled my gaming time back then) Thanks for the help in advance.

I've answered this question a lot lately, so just check the first few answers, but to sum it up, if you are willing to put in some time, and can find a few people (if you play every MMO, certainly you should know someone) to take you in, you will not have a difficult time catching up to at least compete.

You are right, there are not a lot of new people, but it is not like there are not any either. Most classes can solo to 50 okay, although it is funner to do it with others. In fact, leveling is fast enough now, that keeping up equipment is the bigger problem. If you odn't have someone to help you out financially, or if you don't eBay cash, this is a bit of a problem.

I'd recommend trying out the free trial again, and see what you think. Try to find a friend to invite you to a guild. That will help a lot.

I started way back in beta and have come back to DAOC like 4 times. I am back for good now. I have played all the other big mmos and have high characters on them all.
To answer your questions I tend to agree with the last person. Make friends in game and have people help you along. I am sure you will find a couple people the first few days in game. If you choose a class like healer/caster type. It can be easy and hard to solo. I have a skald which is pretty easy to solo with my runemaster in the 30s has trouble and can die easily. My healer with augmentation specs is good soloing but with healing spec has trouble. Now finding groups is very easy with a healer but this game is very big. You can easily spend all day like I did yesterday with a friend traveling around and never seeing another person. Then again you can go to the battlegrounds and get in a group and run around rvr ing. Best bet for you is to find a guild and get involved with them. You need to be able to ask questions and have them answered.
I am on the guinevere server, Midguard. Sverrir Swordthane. Feel free to send me a tell sometime. I am liking all the new graphics and quests both champion and master levels and horses with barding and bags. The game is TOTALLY different than it was 5 years ago and the only game that really has changed. I remember playing in zones not populated and quests only up to 30 now you have master level quests to do that give you more abilities and champion level quests that give you access to better abilities, armour, weapons, and mounts. I love the new areas of pvp too. You can use siege weaponry to knock down opponents and castles/keeps. A ton of fun. Hope you like the game. Make sure you get the newest update/version Darkness Rising. It is the client I am using and has all the new features.
Take Care.
