Feel free to ask me anything I didn't cover in my write up. I tried to get everyone's questions in, but I know I missed some.

Ha, I heard this was happening (gamer escape announced it) but I didn't want to spoil your surprise in the "ask a beta tester" thread. Yay!

I wasn't sure if we were allowed to talk about it or not, FusionX tends to take more chances than I do Smiley: smile

I've been sicker than a dog the past few days (I'm home from work right now even) so I'm still trying to put some polish on it but I wanted to get something out there for people to read and get this thread going for any other questions folks may have.

Just a reminder, only I can answer questions, everyone else is still under NDA Smiley: wink

At no point was a bored with crafting, and harvesting is a fantastic job because you gain abilities to avoid aggro and explore much more effectively than you can with one of the DoW or DoM classes.

Wow, that's really great to hear. Love the idea of DoL classes having stealth abilities, it just makes sense.

DoM jobs can get a chance to crit a spell for extra effect, like a critical Esuna will hit all party members and not just the spell target.

Smiley: eek Well that's just neat.

While doing Guildleves, NM's can appear that you can defeat for more XP and gil. They are usually more than challenging, requiring extra effort to defeat. While Guildleves can be solo'd, I found that grouping with a couple of friends not only made the effort to get XP faster but more fun and rewarding. While in a group of 3, we started noticing that not only were we getting more XP because we could set the Guildleve's level to much higher than we could attempt it solo, but with 3 people we started to notice treasure chests appearing out in the field that gave very good loot, armor and other equipment on par with what you get in the instanced dungeons.

This sounds fantastic. So not only ARE there NM's in the game, but they are still a random spawn in leves, and there are also treasure chests in leves. That seems like a pretty massive win-win to me. I like that they are a challenge too.

The Hunt Log is a fantastic new addition to ARR. For each job, you have tiers of hunts that have you going out and finding mobs that you may not otherwise encounter during your questing. Once you kill the appropriate number of mobs, you receive an XP bonus. Once you complete the entire tier, you get a huge XP bonus and unlock the next tier of mobs. They are groupd by tens, so the first tier feature mobs that are between level 1 and 10, the next tier mobs from 11 to 20, etc. These mobs can also be quest mobs, so you can kill two colibri with one stonega, so to speak.

Cool, so kind of like achievements for killing stuff. I like that.

Another way to boost your XP is via food. Almost all food gives some kind of bonus, from 3% up, among other effects.

Interesting idea. What other effects? Increase att/str/dex/etc like in ffxi?

Butbutbut.. I have a videogame blog! That makes me media!

So how do you feel about the difficulty level? Do you think there's a good balance of casual to core?

Since it's my own impressions, why would I lie? Everything there is presented as my opinion only, I tried to be fair but this game is looking so damn good that I can't help but be excited.

Food can boost the normal stats like STR, VIT, etc, but it can also increase your Spell speed, up your determination, etc. So there are more effects than just boosting regular stats.

Honestly I can't answer this yet. I haven't quite capped my CON, but the Haukke Manor instanced raid at level 30 can be a pain if you have people who don't know how to play their jobs. That one requires coordination and each job doing what they're supposed to do. One run I had the tank couldn't keep hate and we wiped a few times but still managed to beat it. It was pretty hairy for a while though.

It's a great way of filling the XP gaps if you're out of level allowances or are just tired of doing other things. Personally I love the instanced dungeons, the XP you get from them is pretty awesome and it usually isn't too hard to find a group because you only need 4 people.

I cannot answer that question w/o getting into trouble, but i can see where you coming from as i said, in my opinion there was nothing wrong with the article, but you did not even mentioned one bad thing.... And well no MMO is w/o it's bad things. Again when the NDA lifts, we shall see.

If you feel Wint is biased, you can always read a few of the other write-ups going up today. Like I sad, FusionX wrote one and Doctor Mog wrote another. PCGamesN wrote one as well.

(Not to divert site traffic, lol)

The mog log wasn't about beta impressions though, it was the latest live letter.

But but :( I like to argue with Wint :( I will not use the word biased, because to me biased is being biased on purpose, and i do not think that is how wint feels, the way i see it, wint is really impressed with the game, and did not really found anything wrong with it, or if he did, it was minor to him, as he said it is his opinion, but in my opinion, having been given a chance to shed some light into the beta, he could have been a bit tad more objective(See now i said he is not objective:( ) But then again since we cannot discuss this openly, i will not go deeper into it, i liked the article, i just have a different opinion on combat and dungeons that's all.

True.. I got carried away in link-pocolypse.

But from what I've read, most opinions are very positive of the game. Whether this is a factor of the limited scope of the testing, I cannot tell.

Is that doctor mog, THE DOCTOR MOG from the game ?
#24 Apr 24 2013 at 10:38 AM Rating: Default
Can you give your opinions? What did you especially like (besides the chocobo) and not like?

Can you describe in detail why so many people are sounding off about the combat? What makes the combat so different from 1.2xx?

Was there anything where you said "I don't like this, I hope it changes before launch?"

-- I'm not trying to draw out negativity, but from your article it comes off as flawless? I thought you would give more pros & cons. --

Was there a hide option for pets, accessories? Is there a hide helm option in the interface?(I think it was just a text command before)

Are there any differences between FATE gameplay and GW2's system? Because they seem very similar from the info that we have.

Thanks for the write up!

I guess my biggest question would be: Do you have a good idea of when PS3 players will be jumping in? I know it's phase 3, but do you know when that will happen? I'm getting really amped up for this thing!
