Yeah, Yoshi-P said that a server-wide message would go out when a true primal was used. You would see the environment change, the sky turn red, etc.

It sounds like a really fun mechanic.

Sounds like it will be. Just sitting in Ul Dah chatting it up and the sky goes dark like it's the end of the world, instant mass convo starter!

i wasn't aware of these things either when a true primal is summoned... SE can always blow my mind just with lil stuff like this...

They have confirmed though that primal battles in itself are staying mostly the same. So is it going to be like FFXI Sandworm where engaging it in a fight will throw you and your party into a special battlefield?

Or are the roaming primals and the primal fights for weapons considered different content? I know they've confirmed both, so I'm interested to see how they will pull this off.

So there was some clarification after E3:

The Roaming Primals, will not be fights out in the open, they will be an instanced fight, but the instance will roam and you will have to find it, so yes, like the Sandworms.

They have given no clarification on if the primal weapon battles will be separate, but I assume so.

Basically, the roaming version will be akin to Ifrit Extreme, limited to who can claim it, while the Hard mode for weapons will be accessible for all.

Ok, how about the obvious questions from someone who really has not been paying attention lately:

1.) What about the Market Wards? Totally new system?

2.) Auction House?

3.) Menu Lag improved?

4.) Item Durability? Yes/no/changed?

5.) Linkshells can remove members? (who are not online and nearby?)

6.) Drop-out party powerleveing is still a thing?

7.) Is there a usable party/dungeon finder in the Beta? People use it?

8.) They added more unique weapon animations?

Are these questions eye-rollers or will the MMO basics be available at release this time around?

Keep in mind that the NDA is still in place for a large majority of the beta. I know that, from the UI, they seem to be moving away from a menu based system and more toward hotkeys. Auction Houses and Duty Finders are/will be in the game. Someone who has played both phases may be able to answer more while skimming around the NDA.

Menu lag is greatly reduced. About the only time I really felt it was noticeable inside Gridania was inside the Carpenter's guild when there were 100+ players sawing away, then the game took an extra moment to load the crafting menus.

We don't know yet.

Yes.

4.) Item Durability? Yes/no/changed?

Item durability is the replacement of FFXI's EXP loss now. If you die and home poiint, you lose a lot of durability. If you get Raised you lose very little.

5.) Linkshells can remove members? (who are not online and nearby?)

Linkshells will be implemented in Phase 3. LS's will just be a chat channel now and their emphasis will be largely reduced. Companies will be the main player run guilds but both will let you remove members no matter location and online status.

6.) Drop-out party powerleveing is still a thing?

That was just a phase. Just as abandoning/restarting leves for major EXP bonuses was a phase.

NDA

8.) They added more unique weapon animations?

They fixed that in 1.0 when they changed abilities and added jobs, but some in-game battle footage if you look at alpha first looks on their Youtube will show new casting animations and effects. Rest is NDA.

Almost positive this isn't NDA. Yes there is a party/dungeon finder. I know I've read that somewhere, as I am not in the beta and would have no way of knowing otherwise. It's possible I just read it as speculation, but I'm pretty sure it was from something official.

A content finder was announced. Unable to confirm or deny its existence in beta because it would fall under the NDA if it does or does not exist since it isn't about Gridania or character creation.

Additionally, there will be the roaming primal battles, where finding Ifrit in the wild and defeating him will grant your Free Company the power to summon him during a battle (just once). After he's been cast, he will be free to appear in the world randomly again.

MANY new primals, in addition to the previous ones, the Relic quest, etc.

Us legacy will be busy, no worries..

But no, no level increase.

Hm, that could be ok if there's some time limit on how long you can hold him. Otherwise I see some stingy company holding him indefinitely until they really need him. Could be months before anyone else even gets the chance to see him roaming, let alone fight him.

I imagine there would have to be some kind of time limit in place. It's probably something like, X uses or used within X amount of real time hours. At least, that's how I hope it works.

So I put a lot of time into FFXIV, but left before the news of a new game being made so I'm completely lost about what is going on.

Are they making a completely new game altogether?
What happens to our old game?
Do characters transfer over or is everything new?
Same terrible Crysta plan?

I'm just confused in general as I haven't followed anything really since I left FFXIV behind. Any information is appreciated, or a direction as to where I can find information! Thanks!!! Nilbog Nekurd

This post pretty much identifies the **** poor job SE is doing about spreading the word.

There is, I think they said 1 RL week?

That way, you could get Ifrit, then schedule a run against {insert badass hnm} and utilize it. They also mentioned something like a meter on when the summon would leave you, which you could increase by doing activities UP TO a week.

So you would really have to work it to hold him.

One of the many live letters, I think. I really can't remember which one but I know it was a Live Letter (video).

Also, this thread on the official forums has Reinhart translating every last bit of info from Japan.

Not sure what you mean by this. People just stopped doing it, or people CAN'T do it anymore?

I am hoping that it is no longer possible to just skip the leveling process entirely. I was rather hoping that leveling up is enjoyable now.

In which game was leveling enjoyable?

The idea of the current system would be "Getting xp from doing something aside from punching a million crabs in the face should be less redundant and more rewarding."

I loved partying in groups when I played XI... to each their own I suppose.

SWTOR. Class stories made the leveling experience quite enjoyable.

There's a question that should be asked if the ability to skip the leveling entirely is still around... why keep levels at all? I mean, if you don't have to do it to progress your character, why is it there?

Neither, really. It really wasn't worth doing it anymore. It was more fun to log off for the night in an inn, get the resting bonus. The resting bonus EXP was way better than getting power-leveled.

This is speaking 1.0 terms. The TNLs for ARR are much higher, though.
