Which race will you play? Follow
Wildwood Elezen. I pretty much have always played an Elvish character in all aspects of RPG gaming. Still deciding on what my sub-characters are gonna be though.
Probably a Duskwight Elezen. That was my original character, and I was really happy with how he came out. But honestly, it more depends on the actual character creation. I chose Elezen because that was the one that gave me the character I liked best. With more options, I might like one of the other races better.
Ever since FFXI I liked the Mithra race but felt disconnect from being a female character. Now they have a male miquote, I can't pass it up :)
I still can't decide if I should go hyur or miqo'te.
I'm still so torn on what race to play. In FFXI I was a boring hume and always regretted it. In 1.0 I was a monstrous red roegadyn that I really liked a lot (it fit well given that I was a gladiator mainly). When I restarted a character after quitting for a while, I made a mithra because I wanted some eye candy and to not look like a horse in a swimsuit.
But for ARR, I'm really torn. I've been leading towards male mithra, but I'm really just not sure. I still like the Rogaedyn, but I do like the fact that you can play dressup far more effectively on a female character. I'll probably just end up making a bunch of alts for that. I dunno.

I rolled a Tarutaru in XI because I wanted to be the Ultimate White Mage (tm) and was told that a Tarutaru WHM/SMN was where it was at. That didn't hold up (WHM/SCH, WHM/BLM, and WHM/RDM are the various subs used today) but I eventually became a bard anyway, and Tarutaru bards are only "meh" compared to Hume bards. Oh well.
My only real regret with being a Taru was that the gear was always warped and distorted and some of the details were lost.
So I'm playing a lady Roegadyn this time so I can actually appreciate my cool outfits.

I've made up my mind. I'm going with a male seeker of the sun miquote (the moon guys look too much like kitty vampires). I've been checking out screen shots, and I think miquote look awesome in all the different job/class gear from robes to plate mail. I also can't help imagining one dressed up in traditional fft thief gear!
After watching YoshiP playing around with his Lalafell on the Live stream letter from the producer, I'm considering playing Lalafell too, if only so I can jump up and down. It's too cute >.<
I was dead set on sticking with midland Hyur but I'm debating switching to male Miqote. I was disappointed with them at first because they didn't look animalistic enough but the footage in the new video showed they improved a lot. I'll decide once I get to mess with the character creator myself.

Still undecided between Hyur and Lala. Wondering if offensive classes like warrior or paladin will look good on Lala, while Hyur will be the most standard human-like appearance which may get boring sometimes. Not to forget all equipment will shrink to fit Lala which might reduce the aesthetic in my eyes. Hmm.....

If it's any consolation, one of the coolest people I know's going to be a Hyur Highlander~ Also, Lala is something I'm definitely looking forward to. A warrior/paladin Lala will be an endless supply of entertainment for me, especially if they''re be jumping around because I'll keep on thinking of this scene
I'm tempted to make a Lala just for the fact that they'll look adorable in the moogle cap.
I'm going to roll a male Roegadyn I just can't decide on Sea Wolves or Hellsguard.
Male Seekers of the Sun Miqote FTW! I was torn between Female Sea Wolf Roegadyn, Female Midlander Hyur, and Male/Female Seekers of the Sun Miqote, but after seeing Male Miqote in action during that last live letter, I'm 100% sold. I've been wanting a Male "Mithra" since before FFXI:CoP. I'll probably end up with a minimum of 1 of each race depending on the number of slots we get and if we have to pay for additional slots, etc.
probably a Hume with blue hair again
Sticking with Hyur again, but may switch to Highlander instead of Midlander. I don't know.

I would love to see pics where all races and male/female are shown in af for all the jobs. I want to see a roegadyn as drg/mnk/pld. Etc. Huge part for me about picking a race is what they look like in "end game" armor. Considering how long I wore sh/osode /hauby/haidate/hagun etc etc it's important to me to know what my guy will look like wearing stuff you are going to wear a long time.

If I recall correctly, there actually is a Roegadyn Paladin in the job's page on the official website, and his gear seems end game to me~

It won't be someday for me...It'll most likely be day one. I won't create an official character until maybe a day or two later :D
