Is there a 100% need to lvl a DoM or DoW? I would love to start with bot/cul/fish and make some gil. I know I will need to lvl somthing to 10 but after that is it needed to max the other things?

I don't think you can do dungeon raids on those jobs, and without straying into NDA territory, some of the level locked quests in Gridania do require fights. It may not be the same in other cities, though.

Wint? Help!

You're good, it's been said in interviews with both Yoshida and in the press releaces.

Yes, you will need to level a Deciple of War or Deciple of Magic to advance in the main story at all. Could you potentially neglect the main story and focus solely on crafting? Sure, I bet you could make quite a bit of Gil focusing on the markets that way too.

But you won't be able to participate in any of the primary plot with just a DoL, DoH class.

That also means no access to the Inn, which means no resting bonus. The resting bonuses DO apply to DoL and DoH jobs, too.

No, it's not necessary if you'd just rather focus on the economy. It might be looking into in case you discover a few perks for your DoL/DoH that you'd be unable to access without a combat class. Airship access, chocobo quest, etc.

You can stay on your Botanist to get to logging points. I believe gathering classes will have abilities to fend off aggressive enemies or to sneak by them for hard-to-reach points.

There was a guy on my FFXI server that did nothing but Goldsmith and gamble. It was just his thing. He was super cool and known to the community without ever stepping foot in Sky even. I think he eventually leveled up his Paladin (he was a taru harhar), but he only got to 60ish iirc.
