what NPC gives the new artisans tools because all I see Talan with is new recipe books....

Also is Snowcloak part of the main story missions, or is it separate (like every other dungeon since 2.1) if it is seperate then what NPC do i start its quest with?

The i70 off-hand crafting tools are crafted; check CRP (which makes the WVR and GSM ones) and BSM (which makes all the others).

EDIT: grammar or something.

They also appear to be crafted; so they're probably IN those new master books.

From my understanding and brief glimpse at the system, it appears that certain 3 star craft items (like the cogs for goldsmith) can now be hq'ed. Five of those hq'ed will get you a master book for the 4 star items, but you can also trade a set number of those hq items + Mastercraft materia + the lvl 50 tool to the guy who sells the master books in Mor Dhona to upgrade the item to ilvl 70. So the first step is hq'ing a 3 star item 5 times.

My inventory and gil are already gibbering madly as a result of this. :/

I'm pretty sure the trade in for the ilvl 70 main hand only requires normal quality though. Are you saying this got changed this patch?

are those cap numbers from strictly melds or is that adding the base stats the item already has too? for xample offhand is 25 craftsmanship if teh offhand already has 24 craftmansship then I can only meld 1 craftsmanship to it or is the 25 craftmanship strictly from melds which will add to whatever the base craftsman stat is?

Maybe it is nq, I'm not exactly sure now that you mention it.

I'm sitting on the sidelines on crafting. I'm still in the process of buying best man's gaiter's and desynthing them for wool cloth, hippogryph leather, and fieldcraft III. And I bought nearly a million gil's worth of gaiters already ><. But oddly enough, the fieldcraft III sell for 90k still, the hippogryph leather for 44k, and the wool cloth for 3k each, and since my percent chance to desynth on leatherworker on the ilvl 70 items is nearly 76%, I am breaking about even on profit.

I am afraid to spend anything until the dust settles. I went from 13 million to 10.5 million after the patch, but I bought the unhidden leather maps (bought 5, had one from a boarskin reward) and got my imperial shadow glasses and imitation mistbeard mask. Put the mask up for 1.4 million, glamoured the shadow glasses, and got lucky on a minecart minion drop which I put up for 1.5 as well, so I'm just going to hold onto my money until the prices drop a bit. Glazenut market tanked which makes me sad. But even with 10 million I still feel like I am too poor for crafting, that is pretty bad...

I'm really starting to believe that that FC airship is going to require a 4 star crafter in each job to get the job done. I hope not, but it feels like thats where it's headed.

The offhand tools' base stats are 123 Craftsmanship and 69 Control, so it's a safe bet that those are meld caps and don't include base stats.

You need to NQ five *** tokens to get your Supra tool. You need to HQ three *** star tokens to unlock the Master Book 2. The Master Book 2 unlocks **** recipes.

The Demi materia master books unlock the ability to make the off hand artisanal tools. So if you already unlocked the demi materia master books, patch 2.4 updated your list of master recipes.

Making the three HQ *** tokens is much harder than making a *** recipe. As it takes 9000 quality and 801 progress. To do this, you absolutely have to have to have the new off hand tool. And use reclaim very liberally.

People are still working on different methods/builds, but generally the consensus so far is that you should overmeld +15 craftsmanship into the off hand tool.

That relish loving jerk, Talan has all the items you're looking for.

The gear calculator Aryilla has been updated with all the stat caps at this point. And so you should play around there before doing any melds yourself.
