So on the first new Hildy quest of 2.4 when Hildy and that other inspector are fighting the commentator says He delivers a left hook (which knocks Hildy out) even though we clearly he is his right hand that does the job

Is this what's left to complain about?

He does have a point though - Considering Yoshida himself said numerous times he does a lot of last minutes checks on patches which is why they tend to come "later than usual" this is basically an oversight that somehow got past his "last minute check" for quality purposes. He also delayed 1.22 (job patch) back in the day because he wasn't satisfied with the PLD Cutscene and wanted it better and it still had issues.

So I don't think it's a complaint..it's an observation.

Naoki Yoshida doesn't really speak fantastic English. I very VERY seriously doubt he's combing over mountains of localized text for typos. Someone on the localization staff dropped the ball. End of story.

Wouldn't this all depend on where the person mentioning this was standing. If he's in front of the encounter it would appears from his pov that it is the left hand (viewers left), however if he was behind the encounter it would be the opposite (viewers right). I've only done maybe the 1st 3 quest in the whole chain as I don't care for it, so not sure in what context the person mentioning this is placed.

Yeah and based on mr ahriman he says Yoshida is actually pretty strict about even localization quality. I know he doesn't speak great english (which is why I only care for the live letters and such since I understand Japanese) so if the localization dropped the ball, that means Yoshida's checks wasn't as strict as he says it is. Things still have to pass him, since on the Japanese client it's a lot more straight forward and less "pop culture" like it is on the western localization so there's obvious stuff he won't understand, but in this regard, Yoshida says he makes sure that cutscenes pass quality checks.

So mistakes happen, it's just one of the funny kind of mistakes since it's so simple. (I've seen the dialogue file too, so I know the format it's in.)

Do we know if the same error exists in the Japanese version of the text?

Next time I'm on I'll rewatch the cutscene to see, I switched to english for that stretch because some people had no idea who I was talking about in some story bits >.>

Um, no. Your right hand is your right hand. It doesn't matter which direction someone is looking at you from.

True ;)

To be honest I have done quality control my self and it happens. Happens in the biggest companies and after all we are human.

Reminds me of the Atma that was listed in the wrong area.. So easy to catch, I think everyone knew it was wrong because two atmas were listed in the same area.. But it remained in there for several patches.. Never looked did they actually finally fix that?
