Wanderer's Palace Hard is pretty much a trip down ToAU nostalgia lane.

I'm really looking forward to the World of Darkness. Amdapor Keep (Hard) and the Lake fight also seem awesome too.

But Wanderer's Palace can really go die in a fire. I'm so sick of that place.

That said, the new armors look great. The tank one reminds me a bit of the heavy stone armor from Dark Souls and even the Gold Saucer looks like a fun place to hang out (though we can already tell that chocobo racing will be broken).

So the good: Lots of new and interesting stuff.

The bad: Everything i've been grinding for the past few months becomes yet AGAIN irrelevant and you have to start over from scratch...

Yep..even the 'Demon' set looks pretty good compared our last round of armor. (No mention of the ilvl but good chance around 115 or 120 due to weekly lockout.)

Is this supposed to replace the ironworks gear or is it the new CT gear?

It's the World of Darkness set, it doesn't show the weapons though.

Awesome trailer.

Is it weird that the thing I'm looking forward to most is to walk up to random NPCs and challenge them to Triple Triad? It's like FF8 all over again, finding new and increasingly less appropriate places to play card games.

Right that's the next phase of CT. I think the final phase too..
So it would be on par with iron works gear non upgraded?

Just noticed Greg has a Great Katana, One handed Axe and a Morning Star...

I mean, if they already did the models for those, we can expect some jobs or class adjustments so that we can use them, right? >.>

World of Darkness looks intense, and I can't wait to master triple triad. Lots of good stuff on the way, I'm excited about that! Smiley: grin

But I'm not excited about that madman's rush I'm going to have to do to run Manderville and main quest story lines to unlock urth's fount (and likely others) so I can re-unlock trials roulette, and then do all the three dungeons on the first day to unlock extreme roulettes so I can still cap poetics and not fall behind... Smiley: frown all the while I will be thinking about how much I should be doing World of Darkness for the coolness factor and progression...

I think it's safe to assume they're trying to wrap up A Realm Awoken related story lines (i.e. the main scenario, CT, Binding Coil, etc) by Before the Fall Part 2 in preparation for Heavensward. Part 2 is set for late March, so Heavensward could potentially be released in May still meet the Spring 2015 goal that SE had announced while giving players a couple of months to enjoy content from Part 2 before the expansion.

Without looking at a new/updated road-map on the development cycle, I don't think there will be much (content) coming out with part II other than a wrap up of the main story and preparing us for 3.0
Coil is wrapped up with 2.4
CT will be wrapped up with 2.5
Main story 2.5X Part 2

I could be totally wrong but from working on a development side that's my thoughts, here's hoping April (probably late) on expansion.

This pace for updates really is nice.

I've hit the "ennui" point for content where I start questioning "why am I doing this again?" because I hate paladin so much and I only need three levels but that weight is just dragging me down and making me not want to do ANYTHING in the game

Now I have motivation to get PLD done and overwith before the patch comes out, so I can gleefully dive into the new content and not worry about leveling a job I despise.

It's so bad that paladin has made me not want to play warrior any more. That's just sad.

I'm sorry if I'm wrong in my assumption, in fact I hope I am.

But with FFXIV in general and with this trailer it seems all about the instanced battles. I wonder if there will be new zones added that allow for exploration, gathering and some interesting side quests to kind of you know... Immerse you? Again, I hope that ends up being the case.

Expansion for that.

In general (though not a hard rule) the way MMOs work is that patches release content and expansions release continents.

Given this patch timeline, I'd expect Heavensward to drop late May or early June.

Fun fact: The game lets you stay in a dungeon ten minutes after a clear, if you want to go explore some of the areas or pick treasure chests your party skipped. Any unkilled mobs remain up after the duty is finished, though.

Still, I've gone back and just looked at some of the waterfalls hiding in places like Dzmael Darkhold that we buzzed past too fast to really appreicate.

He won't have endless clones to protect him this time.

Maybe.

(Speaking of which they really..really need to introduce the 'Thrall' mechanic from XI, would lead to some fun encounters.)

If I get Sastasha in DF I'll ask who is new, and offer to bring them back through the dungeon to get their achievement map.

I just tell the party "we're clearing all the rooms, you're getting extra exp, and you'll LIKE it" because usually if I'm in baby Stash it means I'm tanking. Smiley: laugh
