Those allagan catalyst we still dont know what they are for?
I also see you can get them by desyth Rowena items and Ct gear.
So none of crystal tower as of yet is dropping the items to upgrade metal works gear and weapons?

Allagan catalysts? They're ingredients in some of the crafted weapons and Platinum accessories. That's all. Unless you're a crafter utterly useless. And even then drops from dungeons are atleast 20 ilevels higher.

The upgrade items are (and will be) a weekly quest requiring you to do Labyrinth, Circus and World of Darkness. They basically forced people back into the older CT dungeons since they knew people would only run WoD for example.

Ok so one item a week then through a quest. I saw something on that but was not sure what they were talking about..

I'm okay with that. I was running CT for glamours these days anyway.

Unstained logs from allied seals and drops from hunts:
SIX for Twine, FOUR for Coat

I really like the new system too.

I was part of the crowd that spammed the hell out of hunts the last time these items were made available... but considering that I'm still working on second coil, I don't really NEED gear beyond i120 yet, hence there's really no reason to rush through things. I'd rather do three CT runs and get an item, rather than have to stress about being glued to hunts for hours on end.

At first I wasn't *too* upset because I figured, hey, with the new upgrade to daily hunt seal amounts I can just do those and get 500+ a week just by hunting by myself no problem, and that at the old log-to-tradein item ratio that should get me an upgrade item every two to three weeks. I could live with that.

But then I saw that it's apparently SIX logs for a carbontwine and FOUR for a carboncoat and there went any cautious optimism I might have. Oh goody, I can do these every day of the week and get one carbontwine every six weeks. CAN'T WAIT, SO MUCH FUN.

Even more, apparently you can't get twines, coats, or tomestones in WoD yet? So the only way - the ONLY way - to get either of these items for the majority of players is to hunt? W.T.H. That's terrible. You thought hunts were bad before? Wait until you see how they are now that even more people feel compelled to do them AND we're all even more overgeared for the mobs. Here comes the "OMG Y U KILL MOB I NOT READY" drama. BARF.

And yeah, you can always get twines, coats, and tomestones from Coil, IF 1) you can actually clear t11+, and 2) you're a DPS, because there's no way I ever get a crack at any that drop as a tank. So yeah, if you want them, it's hunts. Hunts, hunts, hunts. Yippitty-doo.

Luckily, as a tank, it's not a complete deal breaker for me. I can survive T10 and T11 just fine, which is all that matters for my coil group as of now. Essentially, the coats and twines are just more VIT (and thus more HP) for me that I honestly don't need. If I were a DPS main, though, and my party was reliant on me getting my gear up b/c I need to do as much damage as possible at all times to beat the ridiculous enrage timers in there? I'd be FURIOUS. As it is, I'll just shrug it off as a large irritation and go on doing all of the many other things in game I'd rather do. The rest of my coil party better get out there and HUNT HUNT HUNT because OMGNEEDMOARDEEPS.

Yeah, basically they want you to do Final Coil for em..and even then you lose a chest with more people in who cleared. The sad part is, ST had oils from the get go, they could have at least had carboncoats lol.

I can't see myself getting a twine until the DPS have their fill. If we can get T12 cleared, lol/sigh. At least I can get a carboncoat a week fairly easily.

You can always get the new crafted gear and meld it.. Sounds like it is better anyway for a change....

One from CT a week aint allot so it will push people to hunts.
Honestly I like hunts though but I liked them better with less people, it was more of a challenge. If more people do it that before that will be bad though.

I think the worst part is you will go through all these hoops to get these items for the new gear and when you finally do they will bring out another set and you can start all over doing the exact same thing.

That's fine with me, because I always want something to work towards. What bugs me is that since I refuse to do any hunts (because I hate them more than anything), gear progression for me is more or less stopped until they add a new way to get the twines. It sucks, even if those upgrades really don't mean all that much in the long term anyways.

You can get one carbon thingy per week by doing the CT weekly (completing all three CT raids) if you didn't already know

Except that the majority of the accessories, especially for tanks, are utter ****. They're practically pointless outside of an upgraded ring simply for the VIT if you want for i130 across the board but nothing to write home about.

Decent for an offclass you don't want to meld the new i110s for I guess but that's about it.
