The weekly didn't really solve much because LoTA still takes a long time (no reason to queue it after your quest), when Yoshida did say the items would be on a separate lockout, which people though it would be similar to ST where WoD will drop it (which Yoshida had said would have multiple routes and your loot varies depending on which route you took.)

LoA and ST remain the easiest method of climbing the gear ladder, so between those doing the quest and those climbing the gear ladder, those areas remain fairly populated. Much more so then trying to run LoA before the weekly at least.

As far as comparative arguments on Coil vs Crystal Tower. Coil requires a static at any time it's even remotely current. Not everyone has that or wants that.

I believe that the Weekly quest achieves what it set out to do: Create a non-competitive means of getting Augment Upgrade items that did not detract away from WoD loot. Whether or not it effectively competes with Coil's drops is moot as it's meant as an alternative.

You do love those red herrings though.

LoTA is ilvl80, most dungeons now drop i90-i100 drops (you have to turn in for i90), thus you can actually bypass it and neither of the HM/story dungeons are that hard. Hell Sol tomes rain you so you could technically even bypass ST in a sense unless you go the route to upgrade and don't do First and Second Coil (considering you're only truthfully locked out of T9 drops if you can't complete that, the rest with maybe T8 being an exception is **** easy.)

When it's the main content (on implementation) a static makes it easier. Then again, I assume you're on Balmung, which I've been reading isn't exactly the nicest of places when it comes to progression.

Otherwise I'm looking at PF this very instant and see quite a lot of Coil parties looking for people that isn't a static. So if PF/DF is no longer present for Turn 1-9 farming..I might have missed something. Outside of T5/9 DF isn't terrible with all the nerfs and echo unless you get people who barely even know their jobs.

Hio, I've done my research. I'm speaking from first-hand experience.

The dungeons that drop ilvl100 gear have an ilvl 90 average requirement. to join. You're going to need multiple soldiery pieces to get there.

Dungeons that drop ilvl90 gear require ilvl70 average - you can purchase that gear, but if you just got to the end of your storyline you're likely not packing that level of Gil on you yet. LotA gives gil on top of ilvl80 loot.

LotA? Requires average Item level 50. Buy some cheap accessories and you can jump in right out the gate from the main story-line.

Each of the Crystal Towers grant you 100 Soldiery which, when you pair it with the gear you're getting as well, becomes the most efficient way to go up the chain, (especially as a DPS) as 4 attempts get you an ilvl100 accessory.

You would have to have a static to burn a lower level dungeon to get gear at a faster rate of advancement. Once you're average ilvl90, THEN those ilvl90 experts become worthwhile, but by that time you're going to have to catch up on story to unlock all the story-line and hard mode dungeons to unlock roulette.

But I've gone through the process twice now. You get a nice boost by unlocking what dungeons you can access due to the soldiery bonus for newbies, but they don't advance your ilvl fast enough to keep up with just dungeons alone, you wind up grinding.

Don't forget daily Main Scenario roulette, 120 Soldiery plus (possible newbie bonus) for a run that should present no problems at all by now. Personally, I enjoy them too -- they're on my "fun things to do" list.

That does help, though I have problems with doing it because everyone rushes and newbies get screwed out of their cutscenes.

Ideally the routine would be to start with Storyline and Low Level Rouletts, then move on to your highest applicable CT run.
