I have attempted the steps of faith about 4 times and I have used the Duty finder to no avail. I have looked on PF and I haven't found any groups looking to do Steps of faith.

I DF'd the Steps of Faith, took two parties to win it.

First one was massive fail, no-one would take directions from the couple of people who knew what they were doing, and we never could fetter and cannon the boss. With 45 seconds left in the trial after the last wipe, I took the opportunity to shout "LEEROY JENKINS!!!" and charge the boss alone. At least it ended with a laugh.

Second one took directions from those who knew, and won it on the second attempt right at the final gate. It's actually kind of a fun fight, I think, but it does depend on people who are willing to work together.

Need a good tank to bring those adds in front of the boss, two good dps to proactively run to and fire the cannons at the adds/boss and chain the dragon, and a fast dps to run up and use the dragon spear thingy when it is chained up. That's it, pretty much.

I find having two good healers really help.

I've been DPS, Tank and Healer on this run and I always prefer being a WHM to avoid healing problems..

Keeping all regen up really helps because you are on the go constantly and DPS in and out of range. Fast cast is also your best friend to chuck medica 2 up. With practise everyone should understand the mechanics and get timings right.

Almost all the failed runs I’ve been on had been because the tanks have this gut instinct to keep the adds at the tail area.

It helps if the cannon folks mark the cannon limit with the green splotch, and someone vocal enough to keep urging the trash forward.

I’ve been through a winning run 3-4 times. When everyone is on their game that last harpoon isn’t even needed. With time passing though, I bet it is easier to get folks in who know their role.

You might be best starting your own group in PF. The last 3 times I've fallen in that one through DF, the healers and tanks immediately left. SE either needs to boost the rewards or get it out of the DF completely.

Unique minion with a lame drop rate would do it. I'd say that less than a third of the endgame population has a Puff of Darkness now, and not for want of trying.

This. Hell, do like the Odin trial and have some glamour gear that drops off of it, but with an extra chest that appears if at least one person in the party needed the win.

EDIT: Have I mentioned that I love how the swear filters make peoples' posts sound much dirtier than they actually are?
