Sounds like someone is tired of getting owned by Jedi's in PVP. Dude I feel you.....but to be honest. Star Wars without Jedi's is like space without ships....whats the point. I'm not a big fan of the class....but of all the things in the game Jedi's are an icon that any Star Wars game must have to be sucessful. Look at the history of the games that did not have Jedi's....are still played? Well....thats just my opinion, wait until the others drop into here......Oooooooooooooooo you iz in trouble.

Personally, I don't agree with having jedi everywhere you look. He is right that they don't belong in the timeline where this game is set as the only jedi in existence at this time were the Emperor, Darth Vade and Yoda.

That being said, MoW is right when he says that nobody would play the game if there were no jedi. Most people wouldn't because its the dream of almost any fan to be Luke, Ben, Qui-gon, Vader or Maul. It's a sad fact with most fans.

I don't think that people should be able to be jedi from day one though. I think the original way of 'earning' your jedi was a lot better. Although I still believe that jedi numbers should have been capped somehow.

Personally, I couldn't be bothered with all the grinding to achieve jedi. I was too busy enjoying the game to grind. I never got Jedi pre-NGE or pre-CU and have refused to respec to jedi since the NGE made it possible for everyone to be jedi with no effort.

Ok, we have heard all this before about jedis. I have been a commando for 2 years and almost never get killed by jedis. Our server is almost all PvP and you just have to know how to fight them and what to use. The biggest mistake people make is they stand there and let the jedis hammer them, run circles around them so they can't use all of there force crap on you. Next change you weapons every few seconds if you are a commando. Start out with heavy weaopns to get the DOTS going, switch from lava, acid, poison, then to a carbine and use you area attacks. It also helps to have good crafted armor with all tripal 35 aa's for a commando and buff and stims always help. So if you cant kill a jedi now i dont know what to say to you. If you wanna learn how to PvP then switch to Radiant server.

its a good point, a commando, played well, should be able to kill a jedi, most of the time, of course if they insist on standing there and letting themselves get hit, the lose rate will be 100 percent :D

rather than getting rid of jedi, i would rather see the return of 'visibility' and the consequences of visibility, be a reason to be a bounty hunter again too.

Personally, i'd get rid of officers, their a useless support class, instead i'd replace them with a Ranger class, the Officer skills etc, would be better off as a expertise set, much like beastmaster, that anyone could take, or better still faction expertise, gain faction points and 'level up' in faction, gaining expertise in officer as you do, it would make more sense and give pvp'ers another reason to actually pvp.

Good point cloudancer. That would alleviate some of the frustration. Don't take my previous post the wrong way. I don't think that jedi shouldn't be a starting class because I get owned by them (when I was playing I got owned by every class. Meh, I'm just not a PvPer). My objection is purely on the basis of storyline and the fact that I believe having a jedi character should still be a reward for achievement in the game.

I think I have said this before....The choice of being a Jedi should be a random chance during charater creatation. 1 in a 1000 or even higher. As described in the movies....not everyone is cut out to be Jedi's. First the apptitude...then the mental eval. Obviously we can't mental evals for the game(then nobody would jedis)....1st 10 to 20 levels being the padawan phase which this should be the only class with a trainer line....again only taking them to level 20 or so as a Jedi in training. Second phase should be a pairing of 2 Jedi's(Apprentis and Master)....insuring noob jedi's are not unleashed on the world without thier heads being screwed on straight. Creating a quest line for this part requiring for the most part a paired set of Jedi's, Then finally 3rd phase Jedi....you know this part, Whip out your glowing stick and beat someone with it. Also following what Dancer was saying,,,during this time....the visibilty factor during the whole thing. The Jedi are being hunted at this time....or at least as I look at it. Anyway these are my constructive thoughts on the subject. My unconstructive thoughts are.........Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww...Stop ******************* else is dealing with the Jedi epidemic...it's not going to change so move on. The last part is realism bleeding though.

This is a 1st, Cloudancer agreed with me for once. I just think they should make it harder to become a jedi, that way all the kids would have to work at becoming a real jedi.

are you referring to KOTOR, i've never played it myself, but it seems like all the jedi wannabees etc, all seem to have. just because KOTOR has some of the same char's in it, doesnt mean its all the same.
the time in which swg takes place, was during a time when Jedi werent just thin on the ground, they had almost been hunted out of existence. order 66 is in force. so displaying jedi abilities should be all thats required to have the imps raining down fire on you. the removal of visibility from the game, spoiled it for jedi's as well really.

according to the books we are in the new jedi order and after palpatine and vader died they cloned them. The emperors hand is mara jade skywalker. She is darth vader's apperentice. So that means that jedi should be in this time.

I totally agree that you should earn the jedi class, and I totally agree that "visibility" should be a must if you're gonna have jedi. Way more fun and interesting that way for all involved (jedi and BH).

As a side note, I also really like the idea about the officer profession being faction oriented. Makes total sense.

maybe, but the only reason most people play is because of jedi, even before, everyone i saw was either grinding jedi, or grinding FS exp.

Ok first off quit complaining bout jedi.
Im a medic and ive been taken down by groups of jedi but
u cant complain when u got a jedi tankin.
Plus I say fightin jedi is a good challange and if there is no jedi
fightin is just so much the same with jedi it gives u a challange plus
I enjoy when 1 fs runs and bam statis on em.
If u wanna beat em quit complaining and start improving.
Plus if ur a commando jedi should be no problem for u
start making some movement use mines get more heavy weapons.

This thread is still going on? Listen....this is Star Wars. Some of the most memorable moments within the films are the lightsaber battles. Without them...my guess they wouldn't have been as popular without them.....I could be wrong....but I doubt it. So to not have a Jedi in a Star Wars game would be......wrong. Simply wrong and consigning the game to obscurity the moment they remove the class. With all my bluster about post-NGE. That would make me leave the game.....and I don't really play the class. But have heart when you leave the game and go to another.....you will complain about whatever the main class for that game is only because you are still getting pwned, because you neglect to learn how to play your class and use the little things the class can do...becaues the little things make all the difference in an even fight. Like know when to heal...like not standing still so the guy with the glowing stick can hit you...like getting the right buffs from an Ent or Medic...Like getting the right stims for your needs. Just a thought....anyway Jedi will not be removed, so you better get over it.....sorry....scratch that...I'm NOT sorry.

OK, I am a little confused. Mevankor & jedihaceh do you have any idea what you are talking about? Because I sure don't. Read the game manual. This game is set in the period between IV A New Hope and V Empire Strikes Back. There is no 'New Jedi Order'. Darth Vader and the Emperor are not clones. Darth Vader does not have an apprentice as he is too busy trying to find Luke before Luke can become a jedi.

The only known force users in existance are the Emperor, Darth Vader and Yoda (who is in hiding on Dagobah). Luke is not a jedi and is only really a very low level force user from a few home lessons given to him by Ben Kenobi (who is dead).

Read and know the storyline before you start making useless comments.

I get a bit miffed myself when you're at Restuss and Jedis outnumber every other profession combined by at least 2 to 1. As has been mentioned tho, Jedi is THE iconic class of SW. I do agree though that Star Wars is not just about Jedi. A good Commando or BH can have a Jedi in PvP, harder for the BH but still achievable. what I would say is that seeing the Lightside Jedis strolling around cities is annoying. I know it sounds a bit like I want them nerfed, I don't, but erm...Order 66 anybody? If a Jedi was in an Imp controlled city the whole barracks would be after them, cos the poor old stormies would rather get sliced by the Reb Jedi than answer to Vader. But I do have a Jedi char, so no nerfing please. :)
