Some silly Brawl techniquesFollow

Thought I'd share a few techniques that I find to be comedic in use. They do have some real competitive applications, but that doesn't make them any less silly.

Snake: Rocket sliding. This is more than simply canceling your dash into an up smash; the difference in sliding distance is quite noticeable. You will need default or similar control settings to pull this off. Begin a dash, then immediately c stick down to perform a dash attack, then immediately hit up and z (grab) to cancel the dash attack into a sliding up smash. You can cross about half of final destination with this. Squirtle can perform a similar technique, but it is much more difficult.

Lucas: Momentum changing. To do this you will need to set c stick to special (b button). Simply run and jump in the direction you want to go and then hit c stick in the opposite direction. This will perform Lucas's side special in the air, but force him backwards after it, drastically changing his momentum.

I played Ganondorf for the first time last night.

Suffice to say I won't be playing any other characters for quite a while I imagine.

And already we're off topic...

Really you like Ganondorf? There are 39 characters in Brawl and out of all of them Ganondorf is my least favorite. Whatever happened to Luigi? He even received an overall minor upgrade in Brawl.

There's a guy in a SSB League I'm in that drafted Ganon with his first draft pick (Like anyone else would have chosen him). I've never enjoyed playing slow characters but people who master Ganondorf usually do pretty well...and I'm not talking about B Spam.

To stay on topic,

Toon Link: Bomb Jumping. This may be well known as it could be done on SSBM but there are many stages that Toon Link can Bomb Jump across. A player gets out a bomb and then leaps from say the bottom part of Hyrule Temple. Use all of your jumps and Up B so by that time the bomb should explode, giving you an extra Up B.

It's quite hard to pull off, but Marth can go from one end up Battlefield to the other under the stage.

Additionally Snake's remote mine can be placed directly onto a person for some sticky bomb lulz.

I guess. I never used the bomb jump this way in melee though, because it makes it impossible to use as a recovery move. The bomb jump where you pull out a bomb and throw it upwards while falling, spin attacking into it actually could grant you some extra distance.

However, as it is much easier to recover in brawl with just an up B, that techniche lost some of it's need. That would be fortunate because I don't believe that you can (RAGERAGERAGERAGE) do a bomb jump that way with link anymore.

***

Mighta been able to do this in melee but I never did because of the wavedash jump cancel. If you haven't mastered (like me) or don't use foxtrotting you can cancel a dash just by crouching. It's slightly faster than letting your dash just end, so you can use down smashes offensively that way, or at least that's what I do with link's: dash up to a guy and cancel the dash, down C stick to sweep.

Snake's funny extra little taunt?

So, be Snake and be fighting one person, maybe in training so it doesn't attack, then in Shadow Moses island do his down taunt and press A before he goes into the box. It's kinda hard to pull off, but if you do he does something weird and then he talks to Colonel about who your fighting. Luigi's is pretty funny.

It's got no real use other than entertainment.

Well Allegory my favourite characters were always Captain Falcon/Luigi/Link, and I do still play them, but I could never get used to using Ganondorf in melee, when I tried him out yesterday, goddamn I had so much fun elbowing people in the face and launching them clean off the stage when they were only on about 70-80%.

Edit to add after reading the results of the tournament thread. I may have to find another character aswell if Allegory uses R.O.B. mostly, because when my brother used him and I was Ganondorf, I was really having problems...

I consider myself primarily a Marth player. But I get a little afraid of using him in lag since spacing is so important to his game, and also because I don't like dittos.

R.O.B. affords me a safer, less lag dependent strategy.

Why have you not been harassing this person into posting in the Alla FC thread? I wish to play him/her.

It's asking you for a password? This means your wireless router has been secured. You might try the password "admin," but mostly likely you'll need to ask whoever secured the router (your brother?)

Yea I think it was my brother/dad when they changed it so that my brothers ipod touch could access the net.

Falcon's is the best...

Snake's Contact: "Hey, wanna do that thing we've always wanted to do?"

Snake: Falcon... PUNCH!

Snake's Contact: Falcon kick!
