Help! Revisiting the game but starting from the middleFollow

#1 Apr 10 2008 at 4:35 PM Rating: Decent
I played SWG for a year or so back in the day. Last night I downloaded the 14 day trial and everything went good install wise. After logging in I had to choose a new profession, which I selected Jedi. Now I am just plain confused on what to do. When I stopped playing I was doing missions in the village to become a Jedi.

Before I continue I am on server Intrepid and anyone who is willing to help me out can get a hold of me on the character name Shalindra.

Here is some basics of where the game put me:

Jedi level 53
Politician is maxed
I still have all my vehicles, my AT-ST and the rest.
I am Imperial
I have 28 profession(?) points to spend and three categories to choose from. (General, the pet trainer one, can't remember the third)
I have a good amount of money
The game gave me a basic lightsaber that I can't use - need color crystals or something

It seems like I forgot A LOT about this game and what I do remember is probably only hurting me due to the game being revamped.

What do I do now? ANY info would be appreciated. A link to up to date guides, a list of a few things to get me started, anything. I tried killing one of those butterfly creatures outside of Cor and it took me like 8-10 hits, and I remember 1 shotting them before. Is that the norm?

If anyone who is reading this is on Intrepid, I am looking for a guild and some in game help! Thanks for everyone's time.

i would read stuff on the official forums, and honestly, i would not delete your old character, but make a new one, your allowed 2 on one server now, making a new character might help you get into the game.

wow i was in the same boat as you a couple of months back. First of all forget anything you remembered about combat for the most part, its alot different now. Its based on lvlv now instead of the old way of visiting trainers and getting all kinds of skill sets. Cap is at 90. If you have plenty of cash like you said, then grab yourself a battle droid or droideka at a vendor. While they dont do alot of damage they do come in handy for pulling as a jedi.

Do atleast ten terminal missions a day as they give a bonus to xp for 10 a day to help you lvl up. Also check your safe deposit box at the bank...I found a treasure trove of items that I kept from pre nge days that was worth crazy credits. good luck to you and ill post more later when I have time

Ok, I did a little more playing and figured out some more of the basics. I think the most useful thing I learned was to hit the tilde to bring up the menus! I'm sure you could just hold down the mouse button on most things before and get the menu. Oh well.

I'm doing something wrong with combat. I tried to do a Imp mission and had to kill 2 lvl 56 Rebs (I was actually level 57 not 53) and was put down with only one of the rebs at half their life. Terrible. I am only using the Jedi Robes that the game gave me for armor and the gen 1 lightsaber (finally got it working). I remembered you used to have to buff at a doc and the entertainers every 2 hours before but after doing some reading it looks like buffs only last 30 min now? If that is the case that REALLY sucks having to run back every 1/2 hour to rebuff.

So the next help I need is - what weapons should I be getting for lvl 57? And armor. And buffs. And droids? Thanks for the post mastersofwar - could you tell me which droid is better. I have a little over 2.5 mil creds and thank got my houses were put back into my datapad and all my items are still in them. I have hundreds of items to go through now, which will be fun. I forgot about the deposit box. Gonna check that now. Thanks again for all the help!

Good luck, and welcome back! I haven't played in forever, though doing so is on my list for later this spring! Let us know what you find out!

I can't help you with the Jedi part of things, but what I can tell you is that an ent buff should last between 5-6 hours if you max out your time with the ent. Depends on the skills of the ent, but you should have plenty of time to quest around...

as far as your droids go, the droideks ive found does just slightly better damage but moves around quite a bit and can sometimes get in ur way of targeting...the battle droid will usually just saty put and fire away which can be a great help in pulling. If in large bunches, u can use ur mind trick to pull and its quite effective using a droid....remember to do the ten terminal missions per day as the xp bonus really helps lvling up.
