hi im a ex ffxi / wow player jumping into swg sometime tomorrow when it finishes dling
anyway as a ex ffxi player and poster on their forums i know its common to see a "which server is best" thread.. well this isnt one of them
instead id like to ask a few simple basic nooby questions as i didnt see a sticky and cant use search lol
one.. is there any way to tell the location of a server. aka i played WoW and i noticed i get a lot lower ping and less lag on a central server as i live in texas then say a east or west coast server. so id like to know if there is any way to tell which server is closer or has a lower ping its not a MUST just a personal prefrence
also id like to know which is the glass cannon job.. i love being hardcore DD something simple like a thief . get behind and stab ez-pz not all macro spam 10000 diffrent skills for mucho DoT ect
also which race goes best with said job i know alot of people would say in ffxi "race dont matter" when really it does.. big time like why be a galka blackmage and have 1/4th the mp as a taru AND do less dmg cause your int is half and try to say "ooh ooh its not the race its the player"

Can't help you with your server questions.
As for Class try Spy or maybe smuggler. As they're titles suggest they have more of the 'underhanded' moves. I think these will be the classes you will like based on what you have said.
As for Race, probably go human. Race plays a lot less of a part in the game now to what it originally did. It's more to do with personal tastes now.

hmm small problem i cant register for swg in the game launcher cause it cant connect to the internet for some reason anyone know how to fix this?

I just checked the "New Account" option on mine and it loads up without problems.

i finally got it working after a hour or so of trial and error lol
turned out i couldnt make a new account or anything cause it goes by internet explorer and i only have firefox
all i had to do was re-install IE and everythings working fine.. tho i basicly doomed by pc to pop up / virus hell by putting IE back on.. i got rid of it after the whole mass hackings of ffxi players fiasco a while back cause there was a virus in the ads on cannotlinkto and some other ffxi sites i think alla too

Yeah I hate sites that demand IE, generally I keep a version of it on my PC for such occasions but use Firefox or Opera for all my browsing needs.
glass cannon = spy
smugglers can stomp face 1vs1
but spy can disengage from combat and has a good chance to escape after unloading direct nukes. smuggler sometimes is able to escape but no where as easy as spy. probably the closest prof to a thief class.
officer = bigtime AoE nukes but not much escape ability and is better for groups. officer is kind of the bard (EQ) of SWG
Spy is not the best for groups and you'll have non spies in your group btching at you who don't understand how spies operate so many spies work alone but a group of 2 or more organized spies is the one of the most dreaded force on a pvp battlefield. A pvper stands a very slim chance to survive a multiple spy attack.
Ithorian is the best race for spy unfortunately mine is trandoshan which is more of a tank race.
ithorian has a hard time finding armor. so human a zab are also good choices and wookie is a beast for melee spy but also has trouble finding armor.
