Summon your droid from datapad, you can do this from hit K on your keyboard and right clicking on the droid in Data and use 1) Call.

Once you summon your droid, you need to right click on the droid with your mouse, options will appear - I need to teach you a command.

Movement commands.
Patroling commands.
Formation commands.
Friendship commands.
Combat commands.

For some droids you will need to click on ~ from your keyboard, you get 4) Program, from that you get to set the commands your pet does, what ever you type, after clicking that command, will be the command to make it do it.

Example:
So if you were to click on the Command Store and then Train at the bottom, a ? will appear over your droids head, and if you say in open chat leave that will become the droids store command, so the next time you say leave, the droid will go back to your datatpad.

Store usually by default release
Group usually by default group
Clear patrol points
Get patrol points
Patrol
Get in wedge formation
Get in column formation
Befriend

Guard usually by default guard
Attack usually by default attack
Stay usually by default stay
Follow Target
Follow Me

default commands means your droid starts with these commands

Droid Engineer has to be one of the hardest professions there is. I have yet to find a good step by step guide, and much of what I have learned has been through trial and error.

To answer your question, and be able to get the droid to do the things Instigator listed, you have to craft sockets and modules into the droid.Different types of droids can be used for different purposes and will require different components to acheive the desired results. As you level, you will be able to craft more types of droids and components and sub-components (be sure to check out your expertise tree for additional schematics), but in the end there will still be a few items for which you will need other types of crafters to make for you. /sigh

My advice to you is to actually make one of each type of droid as you progress. This will get you familiar with the crafting process. Make sure to use a crafting station, and go buy yourself an Equipment Factory as many of the higher lvl components will require identical items from factory crates.
