Im trying to install the SWG trial, and when it gets about 70-75 percent through on patch 15(i think)it stops the installation and displays the message catastrophic failure..

Does anybody know where i have went wrong or if there is a possible way to fix this..

BTW, i have windows XP with DX9 and all my GPU drivers...
640 RAM(1x512, 1X128)
32MB ATI Graphics card
not alot of gigs but more than 4.5...lol
P4 1.5ghz processor

so please will anyone help.. i know these forums are dead but i am really considering jumping back into SWG, and any help will get a dedicated new player...

Thanks in advance...

I have heard of this happening from the trial install and some people recommend installing the trial version using the Beta Station Launcher.

launcher.station.sony.com/faq.vm

Others have recommended going to fileplanet and downloading the trial from there, it appears to be an issue with the newest version of the trial.

Some have also said this version works:

Also, make sure you have your virus protection and spyware removal programs turned off temporarily during the install. It is best to make sure all non-necessary programs are turned off as well.

is that computer capable of running swg, im not sure its even capable to run windows xp ?

too little ram, a graphics card that has virtually no ram too, and a really old processor.. it would struggle to run world of warcraft let alone swg...

how much free space is available on your hard drive, exactly.. as one of the reasons for a failure during patch would be because you ran out of drive space.

The game specs on the "complete online adventures" box only require 512MB and recommend 1024MB so the game will run.
He is cutting it fine in terms of Hard Drive space though as the game requires 4.25GB plus about 500MB more in patches and swap files.

To be honest other than hard drive space I cannot see any reason why he can't run it albeit rather slowly.

Minimum System Requirements:
Windows 2000?XP,
CPU: 1 GHz,
32mb AGP Video Card,
512mb Ram Memory,
DVD-Rom Drive,
Installation 4.25GB, Please allow 500MBof free space after installing for Windows page/swap file and patches

I would certainly recommend trying to free up some more HD space though.

Got it to work.. I redownloaded it using another web browser (internet explorer). I guess that may have been the problem because firefox has so many security restrictions...

but now im having some other problems. Thought they arent to serious they are an inconvenience... but i will start another thread about it.

my advice would be to chuck the memory and get a cheap 1gb mem stick, getting a cheap nvidia graphics card would also make a big improvement, for £100 he could probably make the system work, though i'd be tempted to spend another £50 on getting a decent sized hard drive ...
