You won't get max settings, but I think you can run Dragon Age. If you want you could torrent the game first to see how well it runs and then, as weird as it may be, buy the game if you like.

well i have an xbox and ps3 as well, so im wondering if the performance would be worth worrying about. Id like it to look good and run nice.

I've never torrented before so i dont know where to even start. id probably get a virus or lose my identity lol.

From what i hear, the tactical view and hotkeying makes the PC version so much better that a slight drop in graphic quality is worth it. Besides i can probably run it fine. Ill just do it...

First i have to sell my ps2 tho.

Here is a safe torrent if you would like to test. You will need a drive emulator such as daemon tools to perform the installation. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out if you cared to.

Hot keys help a lot on the PC. I don't know if you can pause on the console version, but pausing is very useful when you really need to play every character.

I think one major benefit of the pc is the ease of using save files. I save a lot because I like to try out several different possibilities. In my origin story I betrayed the same character about 7 different times just to see him cry and beg for mercy at each story branch. I'm a dick. And on nightmare difficulty there will be certain fights where you will be reloading... a lot... especially when you have no healing potions.

I'm going to stop at the store tomorrow and get the PC version.

Does this game have any multiplayer at all?

I do find it highly confusing. For years I've been wondering why games with ai partners, especially ones you can control, don't have a "jump in and play mode," for friends. It should be trivially easy to implement, changing practically nothing about the game other than allowing online connections (heck not even then sometimes).

Why couldn't my friend take control of goofy in Kingdom hearts? Why can't my friends join me in Dragon Age with one of my companions or one of their own characters? I would buy so many more games if this kind of content was made available. I basically only play multiplayer games now, with the exception of a few notable single player games.

This. My friend and I have been saying this for over a decade now, back when we were still playing crash bandicoot. Right now when we look for games, we look for games that we can play together. Resident Evil 5 was such a game, we played that until there was nothing else we could do anymore. I don't think the game developers realize exactly how much better their games would be if you could multiplayer them. As long as they don't implement it like retards that is.. (hai2u FF:CC, needing a gameboy advancedormore and a connection cable for every single person.)

Well, after a few days of procrastinating, I finally decided to suck it up and download the game. If I really like it, then I probably will actually buy it, if only to help support Bioware and the epicness they just ooze.

If I don't post again with [s]more ************ a complaint, then I'm either enjoying it a ton or a party van made a visit to my house.

One thing I was disappointed about was the lack of voice acting for the main (Player's) character - I was expecting there to be one after how Mass Effect did it (Very well I might add).

Its not too important though, great game. Just thought it was rather odd that they left that out.

I dunno if this is part of my dwarf commoner's Origin or what, but i'm supposed to light a beacon in a tower and its being guarded by a boss.... and this boss has kicked the sh*t out of me repeatedly. :(

it's awesome!

ETA upon further investigation that is past the Origin part. I must say the Origin was nothing spectacular in the slightest.

Lots of genres cater specifically to multiplayer endeavors. I think it's ******* stupid myself, but you have a place for it, and you'd be deluding yourself to think that mutiplayer options are somehow disenfranchised in today's climate.

The Human royalty origin was pretty lame too. Just a quick betrayal and whole family getting murdered deal. One thing that annoyed me about the game a bit though was when I was trying to get Ailister to marry the Queen and the little ******* wouldn't do it. It kind of made me wish that there was a ********* command.

The character creator let me choose a voice from a list, it's weird that the actual game wouldn't include that. Or is there just not much talking?

I’m loving this game to death. I loved Mass Effect as well though and it’s basically the same formula with swords instead of guns.
There is a bit of a learning curve. At first I wanted to be lazy and just charge in and pwn faces. Yeah, that will lead to dying allot in the early stages of the game.

I read a comment that the game has two settings for difficulty:
“Fail and Wynne.”

Made me chuckle. Yes having a healer makes the game go a ton more smoothly. Before that it was potion chug, kite, line of site the archers, and pray.

Plus once your toons starting getting more skills and CC it all smoothes out quite a bit.

Take the time to set your tactics. The default ones are not as good as you can make on your own. Especially as you gain a ton of spells/attacks.
I play the tank in my party. War/Champ and he has become an unstoppable killing Juggernaut. I have my range and casters hold position behind him and pull mobs in so they don’t run in and agro the whole room and die in 2 seconds. The AI is silly like that sometimes but if you set them in good tactical spots and tell them to hold they will rock monster faces while you hold the front line shattering the frozen mobs with your shield bashes ect.

I plan to try rogue or mage as my main next go through but I have a long way to go yet in the game.
Definitely a fun game and a nice break from the WoW crack.

23 hours and 46 minutes later, and it's still downloading. ETA: 11 hours 16 minutes. You'd think with 20,000 in the swarm, I'd be able to find more than 36 seeders.

Well, I finally just finished this game. It took me a bit over forty hours to beat it the first time through, but that was on easy. On a more difficult setting I can see it easily taking twice that. I'm rather tempted to just start it up again, pick a different origin and job and make all different choices to see how things will turn out, but I've got AC2 on Monday night to look forward to, so it'll have to wait a bit. I will say, the final battle against the Archdemon is epic.

I didnt like my build choices on my dwarf commoner so i rerolled a dwarf noble. The origin was MUCH better and my build as a tank is more solid. I did beat the troll boss on my first try, but that was after my guy and alistair died. Then i took the mage and ran around in circles while the tower guard shot him. the troll would stop to toss a boulder and id turn around and nuke it. Kind of a lame tactic, but hey i was glad to beat him w/o dropping the difficulty.

When you get high enough for specializations, go Champion Berzerker with full shield abilities. You can DD and Tank ridiculously well. Just set up your mage as a supporter and add in a tactic to down a Lyrium potion when MP gets below 25% and you'll be good to go.

Sounds awesome :D

btw Morrigan is hot.

<----Witches gone wild and Wine Women and song, (Morrigan + Lel romance achievs)then they start fighting over you which is hilarious.

Also yes Sword and Board Champ gets crazy strong. I have maxed sheild talents. Sometimes in a tough fight he starts having some stam issues if I am sustaining Rally + Sheild Wall + Threaten Aura. But with Replenishment from Wynne + Bard song from Lel + Killing blow he gets a bunch of stam back.

If its not a tough fight I dont even sheild wall any more just threat aura that way I can get off more of those awesome overpower and devestate combos.

I was tempted in the beginning to change it to easy. Now that I am pimped out Normal seems too easy and I may change it to harder soon. Mages just get nuts, Morrigan can pretty much destroy armies on her own now. I got ambushed on a bridge once with forces on both sides... Blizzard one side of the bridge, Sleep + nightmare the other side. Lol at the dead mobs.

I remember in the begining my main guy went down in 2-3 seconds to a group of bandits. Then I had to take my doggy and kite like crazy while my archers and Morrigan took them down. Now my guy is pretty much unkillable. Morrigan and Wynne in the same party is kinda OPed.

So the difficulty scale in this game is not gradual really. It starts off hard and gets easier which is weird, but the story is the best part anyway.

I thought the human noble story was cool actually, better than I expected. The only other one I have tried so far is the Dalish one which was ok but did not pull me into the story as much as the human noble one.
