Started playing it on the PC. Damn so many choices. Just making it through the mage origin story, I decided to be too nice and ended up giving back the cool staff I found Smiley: frown I'm sure I'll get a better one later, but that still bugs me.

But man, the first time those spiders drop out of the ceiling, it startled the hell out of me. Even though I knew it was going to happen.

I rolled a Black City Elf Rouge & am playing the ever loving sh*t out of this game. Thoughts:

The game is really easy (on normal) until the tower scene is over. And while I understand afterwards it's pretty open ended, I went to the Magi Tower. First 3 floors? No issues. 4th floor & all of a sudden it's omfg the Desire Demon kicked my *** 30 times in a row & it's not even a boss.

Then you meet the Sloth Demon & it stays hard until you get out.

Usually, I try & play an RPG straight through the first time without reading much about it & for the most part I'm doing fine as the Sloth Demon's puzzles weren't hard, but I'm @#%^ing sick of running out of inventory space. Time to figure out how to get a backpack.

Fun game on the PC & while I understand why they did it, I think the developers probably could have used some creative foliage placement or something for Morrigan's love scene. 'Cause for the life of me, I can't figure out why she'd put a bra on, as she's pretty blatantly "braless" in her normal outfit, when we go in her tent.

Oh, & here's a bit of a cheat I found. When Duncan sends you into the Wilds, if you want to level up like crazy get the 3 vials of blood & go back & talk to him. You get exp for completing that part of the quest EVERY TIME you talk to him. Hit escape to breeze through the CS' & just keep telling him you have the blood but not the scrolls. I stopped "cheating" once I hit 12, but you could definitely go max level if you have the patiance.

I met the Sloth Demon as part of the mage Origin story. But all he did was ask me three riddles which were quite easy.

Mage Origin story spoilers:

When I helped Jowan get his Phylactery, I thought for sure when he dropped it and suddenly sounded different that it was really his Rite of Tranquillity. That he had just finished the Rite (which was destroying his Phylactery) and had become a Tranquil. That by trying to get away from his fate, he had stumbled into it.

I started a Dalish Elf Rogue for something to keep me busy until Monday night. It had a much better origin story than the Human Noble. Still nothing spectacular, but it's got a better flow to it. I then used the blood quest trick to cap it out at level 25, just to be able to play with all the new toys without having to play for another forty hours. I found out that while 25 is the cap, you can still upgrade stats and abilities after that. Certain quests give you an automatic level, like right after you drink the blood. I haven't gotten my hands on a tome yet, but I'm pretty sure that will do the trick too.

I also found out that you won't get to customize any of your other characters nearly as much as you can if you level naturally. You can still pick a few of their abilities, but their stats are already set and most of their ability points get used up by their main class.

As a side note, dual wielding a pair of flaming axes is exactly as much fun as it sounds.

I tried to fight Flemmeth for Morrigan.

It did not go well.

I spent most of my time so far playing through all the Origins. I still need to do the Dwarf Commoner and Dwarf Noble.

I can't decide what I want to play as yet.

I didn't think it was very hard when I did it. The High Dragon at the Temple of Andraste was a much harder fight. I took Shale, Ailister, the guy I picked up from the cage in Lothering and myself as a Champion/Berzerker. I set all of them up to pop a Healing item if they dropped below fifty percent and just zerged her down.

I do find it highly confusing. For years I've been wondering why games with ai partners, especially ones you can control, don't have a "jump in and play mode," for friends. It should be trivially easy to implement, changing practically nothing about the game other than allowing online connections (heck not even then sometimes).

Why couldn't my friend take control of goofy in Kingdom hearts? Why can't my friends join me in Dragon Age with one of my companions or one of their own characters? I would buy so many more games if this kind of content was made available. I basically only play multiplayer games now, with the exception of a few notable single player games.

Baldur's gate 2 had something like this, but not directly the AI characters.

If you want to make a bunch of money & get some decent gear, do the Redcliffe Castle "siege" fight & loot the bodies of the dead NPCs outside the Chantry.

They're loaded.

You HAVE to loot them before the fight ends though. You can kite the mobs up the hill to the windmill & have the Knights pick them off if they're getting the better of you down in front of the chantry.

I used the money to buy a backpack. Hurray for inventory +10...

There's no "sex", it's all implied & nothing shown above PG-13. Even any "implied" gay sex wouldn't be "nasty", unless of course you find homosexuality icky. And that would be your problem.

I was on the Dragon Age forums the other day & someone said something along the lines of "I wouldn't have gone to Morrigan's tent if I knew it would be butt sex!".

Just because he thought two cartoons in their underwear spooning was "butt sex", doesn't mean it is, or even that it's implied.

It just means the above mentioned poster is an idiot.

Sold!
I'm all for character customization.

Well, there's some story customizaton. Unless they changed it from the demo, there's hela customization for the character's face, but not for the rest of the body :(

I want to give my female rogue big hooters. I was disappointed when it went right from facial features to skill points.

Actually grabbing the game of TPB right now, unless you ment something else?

Also, I know (kinda hard not to know) there is the possibility of a M/M relationship. Can you do a F/F?

I know as a Human male I had a choice of choosing a male or female companion to spend the night with during the Origin story. At least, I think I could have choosen the male, since his dialog was very similar to the female's, about how I would like to "get to know him better".

I'd assume you could do similar things with a female character.

New Fun Tip for PC (Dunno if it works for Consoles): If you're at a store that sells the tombs that unlock the other classes, save your game & then sell enough stuff to buy it (or buy it outright).

Then reload the save (where you haven't bought it yet) & it's unlocked anyway!

As for girl/girl- I think a female PC may be able to seduce Leliana. Idk though, as I haven't been able to get her in the tent as a male.

She did seem to swing that way when I talked to her. Maybe you can't hook up with her as a male?

My dog did try to give Morrigan a dead animal as a gift, and she didn't like it. He placed it with her "unmentionables". I had the option to tell her that it smells better than was usually gets placed in there. I laughed.

The small talk that your party members have is quite funny. I've only heard most of Alistair and Morrigan conversations. My brother says there is a female Circle mage and an assassin that are quite funny as well.

Indeed they can, as I have discovered. She is much harder to bed than Zevran, though, so guys get an unfair advantage in the same-sex department. Though, I suppose that, since Zevran is harder to get into a lasting relationship, it all evens out.

For any who don't still know the options:
Women get Alistar, Zevran, and Leliana.
Men get Morgan, Zevran, and Leliana.

Also, damn. When did non-MMO RPGs get this good? I guess when you haven't played RPGs since FF and Chrono Trigger, this kinda **** takes you by surprise.

Hmm, lookie, I can do polls. Fun.

Who is your favorite to bed?
Alistar :1 (14.3%)
Morgan :2 (28.6%)
Leliana :3 (42.9%)
Zevran :1 (14.3%)
Total:7

Do you lose the perks you get for high approval when you "break up" with someone or do they stay?

I've gone to Morrigan's tent, as a Rouge Duelist/Bard she's my main mage, & have all of her perks, but Zevran wants to bone me. If I go to his tent then "break up" with her do I get to keep the perks I've all ready earned?

I'm actually somewhat near the end of the main quest (just gotta finish up in Orzammer) & am greatly looking forward to going through again as a female mage.

Although Iw wasn't able to unlock blood mage, perhaps I'll do it as a male mage so I can unlock it from the desire demon. The desire demon having, well, no desire to offer a deal to Morrigan when I sent her into the fade to fight it.

My first play through I didn't get to hook up with anyone. I was trying for Morrigan, but I was playing as a good character and she didn't like how I did things. My second time through I'm being a complete *** and it seems to be working, though Ailister really isn't too happy with me.

One nice thing I found out is that any specializations that you unlock will still be unlocked in future play throughs.

Morrigan's a sucker for jewelry, if you're going the "good guy" route & want to increase how much she digs you.

There's also a potential for a "threesome" if you're a women who's bedded Leliana & seduce the chick who teaches you to be a duelist @ the ***** house.

And there's the desire demon, if you're a male mage.

And hookers. There's always hookers.

I'm planning on Alstair being my tank until I can get better gear for Sten. Does anyone have any recommendations for good tanking gambits tactics I could set up? Alstair is level 15 with maxxed Sword/Shield skills.
