Has anyone played Dofus?

I need a more casual MMO (mainly for the system requirements not the game requirements) for the near future. I'm intrigued by the turn-based combat for some reason, probably FFI flashbacks. But mainly I'm looking for a low-tech MMO to satisfy my urges.

If not Dofus, any ideas?

I played Dofus for a while. It is fun. It's a tactical RPG style MMO. I like tactical games like that, so I tried it out.

It has a free version, but it's severely restricted as far as areas you can go and things you can do. It was cheap for a subscription, so I tried it out full after playing it for a while. It was fun, but the community wasn't there. If you didn't have friends to play with then it was hard to actually make a group of regular friends.

Drop rates of set items are extremely low. (Low drop rate = Long play time).
The game economy is not set in stone, item values vary greatly person to person.

It was fun though, I played it for quite a while free, and played it for one of the lowest subscription periods, then free again for a little while.

It is very casual. I few years ago I logged into my account and found out they changed game dynamics (mostly skills and stuff) by quite a bit, and my character had been refunded all it's skill and stat points (it was an archer, good build, but they nerfed it and changed the way the arrow skills worked).

Yeah I guess 2.0 just came out and is quite a bit different from the older systems, complete with class rebalances and such. I actually just stumbled upon this game earlier today and spent a while looking at their website and forums.

I'm glad to hear it's interesting. Sounds like it's worth a shot with the free trial, hell a month of paid subscription is less than $7.00 so it might be worth trying it either way.

I really like concept of the turn-based system and also some of their classes sound fun so I guess I'll be trying it out at some point later this week!

KT, I'll hit you up on MSN later and see what we can do!

Yes, yes, and yes. And you should give it a try anyway, as I also used to hate DotA.

Basically. I play it as well, and so do many of my friends. At the very least you'd have Vataro and I to play with. Edit: If you don't like DoTA, then I wouldn't push for you to play it. It's not that you're certain to never like it, but the amount of time you'd need to invest for it to become fun would likely be more than you're willing to spend.

Dofus looks somewhat interesting to me, but unfortunately I can't afford a distraction like that at the moment. If you guys ever decide to play another free MMORPG I might hop on board with you next time.

I'll let you know how this one goes Al.

No DotA for me either. Don't own WC3 and don't have a desk or suitable play area to spam a bunch of buttons/mouse clicks.

Not sure if I'll be able to sneak on tonight KT, but I'll try to hit you up for sure tomorrow night (if not tonight).

Vi sitter här i venten och spelar lite DotA
å pushar på å smeker,
med motståndet vi leker

och motståndet vi sleepar

I tried Dofus and I like the art style but I was unable to play the Drunk Panda (pandaren monk rip offs).
If you want something newer, that Atlantica game that one poster raves about is tactical-ish and turn based with better "newer" graphics. There is also Dofus 2.0 (called something else).

Not trying to push you, just wanted to let you know that HoN is a separate entity from DotA, and although it's a clone it's currently free to play and you don't need WC3. Smiley: wink

We're on that international server with a Z at the beginning. I really enjoyed the first few levels, but there are lots of things I need to read up on today.
