And that Chrysarium is a dirty move, it's addictive like hell. The sphere grid was already close to addictive, this is worse. I have to force myself not to check it out after every fight to see if I'm nearer a new spell or ability or such.

Reached Chapter 11 last night. Holy hell the map is huge. Only bad thing is you can die easily. I decided to poke a giant dinosaur looking thing, it 1-shotted my team for about 6k damage each. Crystarium takes forever to fill out now. At least most fights give at least 3k CP.

Okay, question for those of you who are fairly far into the game. With the Crystarium thingie being similar to the spheregrid, does that mean that like the spheregrid you could essentially grind like crazy and make all the characters the same in strength and abilities?

I miss the days when the characters each had their own abilities and strength and weaknesses.

No, it does not look like you can. I'm only in chapter 7 but every character has it's own unique Crystarium. Levels are unlocked as you progress through the game and even the same levels of the same "job" on different characters have a different layout and different skills available, as well as different point costs.

You can grind and unlock numerous abilities but it caps for your area (you still accumulate points, but don't have anything to spend them on).

Of course, this could change later on, and everyone may get every job later in the game, but I somehow doubt that.

They do, or rather, they can use the job after they unlock at least one ability/spell.

I'm just focusing on maxing out their main roles right now, I'll have to grind a whole bunch to unlock other jobs for everyone.

While everyone can get every role, some characters will still gain/lack some abilities another might have, and have different stat growths. Because of the cap, characters won't really become uniform until you've beaten the final boss (which is when the final crystarium stage unlocks). And even then, i'm not too sure if characters will actually become carbon copies of each other.

Well that's good to hear at least. That was something that really annoyed me about X and XII. I like it much better when the different characters have their different roles. If it becomes available after you beat the final boss, I'm okay with that.

Well, the option was there, but in FFXII, I don't think everyone had to have the same License Board. If i'm not mistaken, the later Zodiac Signs versions actually encouraged people to experiment with certain License builds and roles in a party.

Little Chocobo seems to act as Sazh's conscience. Even blocking him from looking up Vanille's skirt. And in a few of the cutscenes it was mimicing Vanille's actions, which was pretty funny.
I can adamantly state that I'll be HIGHLY disappointed if Sazh doesn't win "Character of the Year."

Everyone had the same license board FFXII except in international/zodiac version.

on FFXIII:
"You beat __ summon"
"P1 gains the ability to summon __ in combat!"
"P2 is now the party leader"

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

ch.9 now, other than the game having a strong aversion to me actually getting to play it, it's excellent.
edit: sidenote, is there anyway to set new paradigms in combat? Cus not have ____ set when I didn't know that I was going to need it pisses me off.

Usually the first thing I do when the party changes is check the paradigms.

Can I just say that Fang and Lightning as a team are amazing? Especially in the Commando/Ravager roles. They are as awesome together as Snow and Hope suck total *** together.

right, but I make sure all the ones I'll use are there then get hit with crap like "you need synergist to complete this fight"

You really thought so? I first tried that sucker with little effort, the summon battles have been the hardest ones for me.

I got him on the first try too but it took me forever, that tail move of his nearly kills Hope every time, was hard to get damage dealt.

Who ever did they Hope/Snow design in chapter 7 needs to be shot.
Unless there's a secret to it (Beyond snow's Sentinel), those freaking bikes are ridiculous.

Yeah, I hated those bikes.

I swapped between Commando+Ravager and Sentinel+Medic for those. Just swap when you see the Gatling Gun getting ready.

Ya. Sucks that even as a sentinel, if you didn't have steelguard ready or Hope on a medic, Gatling Gun could still kill you. And if Hope was the target... well, he was screwed.

The boss of that area was easier than the bikes. At least catching you off guard with a single attack didn't kill you.

The bikes aren't that bad. Here is what I do:

1. Com/Rav (Start)
2. Rav/Rav
3. Com/Med (If life is good then skip to 4).
4. Rav/Rav until staggered.

Once the thing is staggered then just Com/Rav until complete.

You staggered/killed them before they got to use Gatling Gun? or tried to heal through that crap?

Both. Sometimes I can kill it before the gatling gun starts, sometimes I just heal through it.

Of course, if he starts warming up his gatling gun it's usually smart to make sure that you're full health.

I got caught unawares during Gatling Gun and hope did manage to keep me alive even though I was on Commando. However, if he had just healed you or his ATB wasn't up yet, I can't see how he would keep you alive long enough.

I'm usually a stickler for getting every treasure chest and going down every pathway. But I missed a box or two somewhere near the end of Chapter 6. I could see it, but didn't know how to reach it.

With Lightning and Hope, in the underground food factory with the fal'Cie Carbunckle, there was a platform with one of the Flanitors and an Armadillo-mob on it. Two chests. I didn't know how to get to it, and I couldn't backtrack because the platforms wouldn't move backwards.

I really didn't want to fight another of those Photon Ray spamming Brick Walls either...

If you have one of those red things twisted the right way the platform goes there instead of towards the exit. The platform should reset and bring you back to where you were if you step off and get back on too.

What are your best fight clear times? (non-eldilon) I've managed a 1:34 in 0:13

Anyone here been playing with upgrades yet? I upgraded my Gladius to star level, then advanced it to a level 19 helter skelter with very little effort and wow does it make a difference. Where I was doing 200 dmg per hit, now I'm in the 1000's. Get 36 sturdy bones and use that to get the 3x exp modifier, then get as many turbojets as you can (I bought about 70 or so) and that will get you to star level (or a little beyond, I didn't happen to write down how much exp each turbojet gave). Totally worth it, I can see myself getting really into this upgrade system, kinda reminds me of what insanity I had to go through to get Sora's final weapon in KH1.
