I haven't been upgrading much. I'm in chapter 9, and I just don't have the money for it. I haven't bought anything in the stores and I only have 5,600 gil.

I have level 3-4 weapons for most people just from the component drops I've gotten.

I'm assuming that I won't get the ability to make money and do massive upgrades until I finish this main story arc. It's interesting so far though. Can't wait to finish it.

I won't be reading this topic anymore until I finish the story.

I've been upgrading my Gladius as well, I'm just tentative because I'm worried I'll be upgrading the wrong weapon... maybe there's a more powerful line of upgrades I should be focusing on?

right, but I make sure all the ones I'll use are there then get hit with crap like "you need synergist to complete this fight"

You really thought so? I first tried that sucker with little effort, the summon battles have been the hardest ones for me.

I got him on the first try too but it took me forever, that tail move of his nearly kills Hope every time, was hard to get damage dealt.

Have you seen the characters move around? Somehow or another, Hope ended up standing off to the left of the screen and he didn't get hit by the tail attacks for a while. Then all the sudden he would decide to come back beside me and I'm sitting there wondering if they can move around, why the heck we can't position them. I also noticed while fighting the bikes, there were times where I ended up on the opposite side of the screen than Hope. He had no AOE so it didn't really matter a lot but it was still weird that we can be moved around the screen but we can't position ourselves.

I sell all the stuff I get in drops, it's not as good as what you can buy in most cases and only wastes the EXP bonus.

Regarding character movement, I really wish we could control that. Fighting 3 vikings at once and having your characters all hump each other while surrounded is a good way to get wiped out. I want to take Hope and nail his *** to the floor as far away from Fang as possible.

I played with the upgrades for Lightning's weapon.

I capped out 2 spark rings out of curiosity of accessories. After that, I pumpped every ounce of gil and drops into her gunblade. For the weapons that I didnt use, I sold them, and used the gil to buy more components.

I got her Gladius(sp) capped out (after level 25), then I upgraded again to a new gunblade. The game said that the new weapon would be weaker than the last, but would be able to be upgraded to be a stronger weapon. It dropped a lot lower in stats than I was hoping. I will keep pumping everything I have into it to see what happens. As for everyone else, I just equip them with the strongest weapon that I have that matches their main role(s).

I did a lot of experimenting, reloading the game after upgrading, etc, and figured out that the upgrade of the Gladius to Helter-Skelter was the best bang for the buck at the moment.

Farm Chaper 9 for incentive chips.

Profit.

I've been farming Cactuars on Chapter 11 in an attempt to get the cactuar dolls for money. Haven't had any luck with drops yet. I think in Chapter 12 you get Lightning's best weapon, but I'm not sure about that. Still farming up CP and doing side-quests in Chapter 11 before moving on with the story.

A good way to make money is once you reach chapter 11 you get to do missions for cieth stones, which are basically the same thing as FF XII's hunts. After doing about 3 or 4 of those, you go to Vanille and Fang's home town and there will be a robot dog type thing on the ground that you can repair. Once you repair it he will give you additional rewards for completing cieth missions and also drop hints for secret hidden monsters you can fight. After only doing those 3 to 4 missions he gave me a handful of items that I was meant to sell that ended up getting me over 500,000 gil.

Yeah pretty much all the loot you get, with extreme exceptions (especially the transformation items), are meant to be sold I think. It's a worthwhile endeavor to upgrade your weapons.

the summon or the human? cus the summon all you have to do is sab-med-sab and you'll win in like 300 sec. The human just keep 1 medic out and com/rav rav/rav or com/com and it's not very difficult either.

The human. I thought it was the last boss just to realize I was far from done in that chapter. The first 2-3 try took me like 15 minutes before wiping. Then on my 4th try I got it down to less than 1% and wiped. Got it on 5th try in 5 min with 5 stars... go figure. The summon was not that hard.

Sounds like you were trying to be too aggressive with the human, if you keep a healer out so you're topped off at all times he's not bad. I wipe the summon first try (as always) because I didn't have the paradigm I needed set (I hate there is no in fight menu for that sort of stuff, particularly since they switch your PT members without warning), after I hit retry and set what I needed set it was cake.

The biggest flaw in the battle system is probably not being able to control where your party members wander off to.

Seriously, it makes some fights needlessly hard. Constant AoE interruption made one of the Eidolon's hard for me.

Don't get me wrong, the Paradigm system is fun.

Finally done. Now I just need to grind out the last crystarium upgrade the last boss gives you and upgrade all the weapons and accessories to get the rest of the trophies on PSN and finish unlocking the themes for your PS3. I kind of wish they had put more into the weapon upgrade process than just 3 stages with about 200ish levels to go through. It was a good idea too bad they didn't develop it more.

I'm around chapter 8 now, and I think the game is good enough to play, but not good enough to lose sleep over. Definitely in my top ten favorite for Square games. Just to put in perspective: Final Fantasy 7, 8, 10, and 12 don't rank in my Top Twenty of favorite Final Fantasy games.

Really, its all because of Sazh.

Hello:

Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced
Final Fantasy Tactics A2
Final Fantasy Legends 1
Final Fantasy Legends 2
Final Fantasy Legends 3
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Final Fantasy Adventure

Sure, adventure is actually a mana-series game, and was later released as Children of Mana. And the Legends games weren't really FF... but the point still stands.

Edit:
I forgot the GC/DS/Wii/Wiiware Crystal Chronicles games.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (GC)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (DS)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Rings of Fate (DS)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers (Wii)

My Life as a Darklord and My Life as a King Wiiware.

Then there is the Final Fantasy A2 based Tower Defense games for the Wii/Xbox Live/PSN.

For 7/8/10 I'm fine with that, but I liked 12 once I stopped using Vaan as a character.
