Has anyone seen this game, yet? I stumbled across a guy talking about it on a different forum site, and it looks like it's going to be awesome. I'm not a huge fanatic of the old western times, but I do enjoy some western type movies, every-so-often. It's made by Rockstar, and will have the open world game play, just like all of the newer GTAs.

Here is a link to the main trailer that got me interested in it. I highly recommend you watching the "Introduction", and the "Weapons and Death" videos. It seems like the physics system is going to be pretty sick.

Well, I greatly enjoyed Red Dead Revolver, so I'll probably pick this up when it comes out.

Saw this at PAX. Gameplay reminded me a lot of Fallout 3.

It looks goddamn amazing though.

From what I can remember (This was back in September, mind you.):
There was an almost VATs like system where you could get multiple shots off at an enemy... but it was incredibly limited use.
The UI was virtually non-existant. But walking/riding across the old west was excellent.

I pre-ordered my copy the other day. It gives you a suit that prolongs your slowed bullet time.

I ran across a video on the online multiplayer, here. I'm super excited about this game now that I know it's going to have strong online gameplay.

Surprised this thread isn't more active. First game in a loooong time that I've really been excited about. Anyway here's an image I found on /v/ for anyone interested.

If it were being made by any other company than Rockstar I would be more interested. RDR looks to be a heavily combat oriented game and the one thing Rockstar is absolutely terrible at is combat. I couldn't even finish playing GTA4 because the combat controls were so clunky and uncooperative.

Well, Red Dead Revolver was pretty good, so unless they massively ****** up on Redemption, the combat should be passable at the very least.

I'm pretty impressed. The horse controls were a bit rough at first, but I'm fine with them now. My only current issue is shooting from a vehicle. I pretty much have to use my Dead Eye meter up in order to hit things.

The voice acting is pretty damned good, and there are a ton of things to do. From what I understand, the main story is around 20 hours, but I have a feeling I will take much longer to do it. I'm currently working on the outfit challenges for the bonus outfit from the GameStop preorder.

PS3. Since I don't have a 360, I don't know how the two versions compare.

I would hope they're pretty similar, but yea I'd get it on 360.

Well, I beat the game, yesterday. I'm now 81.9% through the whole thing.

Here are my opinions on the game:

I think that the pre-order outfit is a bunch of BS. The bounty is bugged, so I never get the guy I need for the outfit. I've spent about 8 hours just trying to get that done.

The campaign is awesome. Although, the end of the game is a little strange. And, if you don't look around really hard, you might not ever see the end credits. I just skipped them, anyways. It's the typical rockstar game. You have a ton of side things you can do, which gives it a lot of replay value.

I'm currently trying to get the tenth rank of the sharpshooter challenge, it's pretty tough. Also, the ninth treasure map is hard to find, too.

The online is pretty decent, surprisingly. The free roam online is a lot of fun. I think it would be more fun if I got a group of friends on, and formed a posse, though. The game types are pretty fun, too. Although, people that play gold rush tend to camp instead of actually trying to score the gold. I don't know why, you can't win off of kills.

I'm really impressed with this game, and I'm really enjoying it. I think it's better on PS3, because xbox is having a lot of online difficulty(kind of backwards, but that's what I'm hearing).

You'll get it down after a bit of practice. It's a lot more satisfying to pop some guy off his horse without dead eye.

Ugh, I hope I don't have this problem. It's the only requirement I haven't met, but I haven't gone out of my way to do bounties until he shows up. Got to the point where Irish is waiting at a ferry so I can go to Mexico last night so I'm not that far into the game. I realllly like the treasure hunting in this game. Not having things pointed out with a marker makes things a lot more fun. Only thing that would make it better would be a way to make the treasure map appear quicker so I don't have to go through the select menu every time. I wish there was an option to turn off the markers in general. Hell, turning off the radar wouldn't be bad either.

I think that bounty hunt was my 3rd or 4th bounty in Armadillo, so I had it pretty easy.

As for shooting from a horse while riding, I can do it alright with the targeting set on Normal, but on Expert (where there's no assistance), I still have some trouble. Although, it is also effective to just shoot out their mounts anyway.

Yeah... I did half of the game on Normal before I found you could change it in the Config. It isn't as if it makes the game that much more difficult anyway.

Just picked this up last night. Awesome dialog, decent visuals (why the **** are games still being made in 720 Smiley: frown), pretty good story so far. Looking forward to trying out the multiplayer tonight. So far, I think this is the most comfortable I've felt paying the full price tag for a new PS3 game.

Excellent game and glad I picked it up. First thing I'm going to do when I get home is hogtie someone and place them on the train tracks. Game also has some hilarious trophy names.

Saves time on texture development, especially if you're running up against space limitations on a multi-platform game (i.e. if the 360 version is going to have to span multiple discs, and you don't want to force repeated disc-swapping in an open-world game).

Which really doesn't explain why the 360 version of, say, FF13 was done in 720p instead, unless bumping it to 1080p for the textures (the cutscenes could have stayed at 720p, it's harder to notice the difference there) would have pushed it over into four- or five-disc territory.

Also, unless you want to write procedural texture generators, games through XBLIG don't generally have enough room to do 1080p without being either monotonous in the texture usage or very short. (150MB limit sucks.)
