Sorry KT, I think my instructions were a little bit off before. If I recall correctly, I registered an account and applied the Beta key. Some time later (maybe just a day or so?) I received this e-mail:

Until that point there was no download link on the account. So look for that e-mail, and then you should be able to log in and sign the EULA. Once you do, there's a download link for the Beta.
Not sure how long it takes, but if it correctly applies your Beta code (it will show up in your account) then you'll get an e-mail eventually.
KT, my understanding is that they will send you an email like 1-2 days before the start of the beta, at which point you will be able to go to your account page and download it. It's silly that they don't do it before then, but that's how it is.

It lets you build your character all the way to the level 50 cap, which you aren't able to do in beta.
Yeah i saw that, which is why im so overwhelmed :P
We in the VIP. Word. Got my client all DLed and patched. Can't wait to check it out. Talent Calc is fun looking to. I think I might start with a mage or cleric for this game.

We should get most of us together on the same server.... So keep me updated tomorrow so I know which server to roll on.
I'm trying a rogue starting tomorrow I think. Assassin / Bladedancer.
Also, because I care about the people in this thread but not really about anyone in the actual Rift part of the site, what faction do yall plan on playing? I think I'm leaning towards Defiant at this point, and would enjoy having some of you to chat with if you wanted to roll on the same server in the beta / at release.

Rolling on the same server sounds like a great idea. I have no idea what the server set up is like though at this point. Where are they located geographically? Are their west coast/East coast data centers etc?
I guess someone will just have to call a server for us tomorrow on this thread once they are up. :)

my server will be dictated by a couple other people, and one of them will probably be starting before I get home tomorrow, so I'll try to find out from him where he went and let you know.
edit: I think it might be called Lotham, but I'll know for sure tomorrow.

Executive Producer Scott Hartsman just outlined all the changes that are coming in beta 5, and he said that there will be 32 servers total: 16 US servers and 16 EU servers. To the best of my knowledge, the US servers are not divided by timezone. However, they are divided by PvE / PvP / RP.
There were only 18 servers running in beta 4. Hartsman said he expects this week's beta event to be twice as big.
Thanks Toki! PvE for me. I like my PvP consensual. Not really into scoring etoughguy-cred by being entertainment for bored maladjusted teens who don't get enough attention from mommy. XD
