Delays between Korean and Western versionsFollow

The Korean version appears to be well ahead of the Western versions of the game. While I hate the idea of waiting, if it means the game will be more polished and streamlined for westerners, then I'm OK with it. However, what about when we finally do get the official release. Lets suppose that there is roughly 6 months of content. How long will we have to wait before we see new content compared to when Korea gets it? That is of course supposing that we would get future updates and expansions. Will they put the game out and leave it as is, saying "good enough", and never add new content? This might not effect the PvP players as badly, if they make some really good PvP content. However, it could be devastating to PvE players. I want expansions that have more and more classes, quests, storyline, and openworld and instanced PvE. Possibly even some mini games. I dont just want to do all the quests, finish the storyline, and do all the engame that comes out at launch, only to find that there will never be more.

TL, DR: Will the western version even get updates and expansions? If so, then how frequently? Because depending on how much content they come out with at launch, I expect a wave of new content approx every 6 months to a year from a triple A P2P MMO. Anyone with knowlegde about this please feel free to chime in.

Well since in the Westernization Q&A Knox said that the NA/EU version of TERA would not be getting it's own unique updates because they were designing a "global" game then I would expect that to also imply that we will be seeing the same updates that the Korean version of the game does. However can we expect to be perpetually 6 months behind in the updating cycle due to westernization? On that note I have no clue, but at least we will definitely be seeing updates.

Considering the Community Play Event this month will be the same version as the Koreans are currently on, I don't think we have that much of a delay.

The Korean version is constantly being updated for class balance and other similar things (and to add battlegrounds, the political system, etc). As the Korean version is updated, the Western dev's immediately are taking that information and translating it, and inputing it in our version.

Also, of course the Western version will get updates and expansions. What kind of company doesn't update and expand their game? lol

Any way, from playing the Korean Open Beta, they really do a lot of minor patches, in Korea. On some days we had 2-3 patches in a single day. They were really on top of everything.

So no one really posts here, eh? That's too bad, I've used ZAM for most of my MMO info in the past. I'm really looking forward to this game; it looks really strong and what I've seen and heard has all been positive. Hoping to see some news flow now that I've turned my attention towards TERA's release more firmly (recently took a more in depth look at the games races/lore that really got me excited), but I guess I'll have to head over to the official forums for info.

Right now, you're right, no one posts here. We are however working on ways to fix this. We don't want to go into a huge campaign to liven up the forums until there is at least beta testing going on for the western version of the game. To do so might risk people getting bored of not being able to play the game or have new topics to discuss before the game goes live. Keep checking back! I'm sure we will inspire some activity around here, when there is more material to be active for.

I think that's pretty much what it is. There just isn't enough material released for people to actively discuss. Even the official forums are a bit slow in activity. Well, except for that epic Elin thread going on right now. That topic is plain out of control. I'll probably start posting here once things pick up, but for now I'll just be lurking around the main forums.

Yeah, I'm registered on the official forums. Have maybe 2-3 posts. Introduced myself and have been mostly just lurking/reading. Some interesting older posts, but it seems pretty slow with not much to discuss at the moment. I'm enjoying the updates from GDC and looking forward to hearing more in the coming months after the community event.

Yeah the community play event is the big news right now. There is a fair amount of information coming in from the Korean client but of course all of that has to be translated. After the community play event happens and we get a better time frame on closed and open betas I believe that the community will most certainly pick up. I can't wait!

Aion took all my hopes and dreams for playing a Korean MMO and smashed them in to a million disappointing bits of dragged out boredom.

TERA definitely looks non-boring.. So does Blade and Soul for that matter, and they're both incredibly Korean

This, i got Aion day one loved it and quit to never return just before 1.9. Game had monumental potential however it was just wasted.

What TERA NA needs to do is release the game at a point and update it from there like the Korea version. If they keep updating it to par, they will be spun in an endless loop and never really getting anywhere.

TERA needs to take a hint from FFXIV (can't believe am saying this) and toss out something and then change and alter it on the fly. Else they will get as far as Aion close to death.
