The other topic got me looking into Saga again. I found out that Saga 2 and 3 were re-mastered and re-released for the NDS in Japan. It turns out that a group has finished a fan translation of the game. They are also still working on a Saga 3 translation.
The remake seems to hold pretty true to the original, with just updated graphics, and visible monsters rather than random battles, similar to say... Tales of Vesperia. Definitely can't wait for Saga 3, I liked that one a lot more when I was a kid.
