Can someone tell me the quickest path from freeport to the npc to turn in the roots & herbs?

Ask for a port in FP to lake rathe. Then run south to the center island with non hostile npcs on it(and the underwater chamber).

Otherwise you have to get to GM and then run west when you port to the other side.

Ahh, are there any other good ways to level 25-35 other than dawnmaiden and the herbs?

Not really, though just running through light blues with boon now is plenty productive for soloing.

If you already do have stacks of roots/herbs though it should not be hard to find a port there, just ask in FP shouts if it's during the populated hours there usually will be people willing to help you out.

If you're on Hodstock I'd be more than willing to Coth you on my mage if I'm available so you can turn those in. Just send a tell to Genevive (that's my mage).

But there's also the siloth ring quest which is not so bad imo. Not sure what level it caps at though.

The normal siloths now cap at 46, the ones on the lowest level of the mine now drop a different HNG item which I think goes up to 60.

They might be good for soloing from 40-45 but below that you would need help getting them, you also have to be "good" or at least be on good terms with forkwatch.
