Shaman weapon buffs - which buff to choose for offhand?Follow

#1 Mar 26 2007 at 1:42 AM Rating: Decent
I recently (2 days ago) brought my old shaman char out of the world of dead (unplayed for more than one year) i specced enhancment and dual wield and i am unable to decide which weapon buff to use for the offhand (windfury for mainhand is no brainer for me):
- rockbiter - from what i saw it actually gives +damage specified so its good improvement for offhand weapon
- windfury - with recent changes to how it proccs on dual weapons, is it still viable choice?
- flametongue - worth it or not?
- frostbrand - ill have Hammer of Northern Wind mainhand when i get 49lvl, so i dont think its great choice (bonus question - will hammer frost procc on windfury strikes?)

I am mostly grinding and doing some instances if thats relevant for the question (i guess frost would sound better if i was doing pvp)

Sorry I can't answer you, but I am kinda in the same boat. I have been looking at these forums and am getting confused. What is the deal with the Windfury? If you have it on both weapons, does it proc on both at the same time, or do they proc at different times? Does one cooldown affect the other? Do I need to use different ranks for the Windfury? If I am using windfury on both weapons or they do proc simultaniously, do I need a slow high end damage weapon in both hands? A little clarification at one spot would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

Do WF MH + RB or FT or FB doesnt matter its personal preference.

Rockbiter is basic, will only add half of what it says but will scale easier with your gear.
Flametounge will add dps and wont be negated for being in offhand but your white dmg crit is low and your yellow dmg wont crit often enough to do good dmg, nice for damage over time tho.
Frostbrand is more For if you like its proc alot, nice for pvp or in an annoying place where you dont want runners too agro.

WF + RB, wf with offhand usually sucks

at least for me it is..

I use WF on both weapons and I do well with that. I'm enhancement spec'd and WF can proc on main hand then again for off-hand or any combination thereof. I have a decent crit rate around 18-20% (depends on what gear I have on)and DW 48.3dps axes. My highest is a triple crit main-hand and double crit off-hand at 600-700+ per hit (it was around 3200-3300 damage for 1 attack round) seemed pretty decent to me.

My advice is to try different combinations while fighting similar type mobs and see what works best for you and your play style.

they nerffed the down rank on WF so you cant get double WF anymore. So i would say do frostban cause there is nothong like frostshocking somone and they can heal up a few all cause your shocks are on a 6 sec cooldown. But thats just me im elemental now cause the damage just makes me go OMG NERFZ PLEASE and when i pvp im restro cause healing goes a lot futher than damage (and if you think differently then wow please healbot a pvp group one day and see why)

when i was enhancement i used a fast wep with windfury for off hand and rockbiter in the main hand and it worked fairly well

if u have 2 weps about the same speed id reccomend windfury in main hand and rockbiter in offhand, they do about the same amount of dmg and windfury is powerful in main hand

:( noobs make me cry

WF on MH always it's the only weapon enhancement that scales with gear, and srsly wtf ever you feel like offhand though I prefer rockbiter

there is a 3second cooldown on all ranks of WF so if you offhand procs WF your MH can't proc WF for another 3 seconds + you have 50% dmg on your offhand

When grinding/leveling i prefer WF on MH and OH, On PvP Frostband is way better on a fast weapon. Hold flurry up and like 3th hit with OH makes them slower. With slower weapons double WF makes best damage.

Shamans does only 65% lesser damage in offhand so rockbiter is way worst idea.

For all those reading tak note:
Windfury downranking "bug" has yet to be fixed. If you have decent AP, crit, and +hit WF off hand will still outperform any other weapon buff unless your weapons have less than 50 DPS.

Im sitting at 1240 AP, 23% to crit and 21.49% to hit(with talents)and still have 7400(ish) hp and 6600(ish) mana. I regularly hit for 1040-1370 mainhand Windfury and 700-900 off hand windfury.

I have some of the best gear Pre-serpentshrine lair. If you are running with a bunch of TBC greens (as I was to start) RB off hand is awsome but even of you get the 2 axes from Thrallmar honored (56 DPS) I would highly reccomend WF5/WF4
