After attempts, as well as deaths, my hunter finally got a full set of "The Fang" armour from WC. At lvl 17, I had it all thanks to a guild member toasting most the bad guys for me. Now, at lvl 29, I'm finding that most green drops and stuff on the AH, are not alot better. The +'s of the individual fang stuff are higher,(AG and Str) and armour is only 5 to 10 points lwr. Is the idea of having a Full set blinding me to the facts? Is it crazy for a lvl 29 orc hunter to be wearing lvl 17 leather? Is the +10 Intel and + healing a waste? Or is Purple just My color???

As far as I can tell , most of the armor sets are for lvl 58 and up . Kinda an end game thing . There are a few below that here and there but from my understanding , all of the pieces for sets are very difficult to attain and really not worth the effort to get unless personal satisfaction is your thing .

I personally would recommend ditching the set and getting up with some armor pieces that are closer to your level . In my opinion anything 10 levels below you really should be replaced .

Why is a hunter worrying about armour sets with "+ strength"?

Common misconception, I'm afraid. 60-70 aside, there are many pieces of gear that offer the best stats for 10-20 levels, full stop.

A good example is the boots Horde-side that you get from the quest in Splintertree Post that give you the blue boots; those boots are excellent, and nothing can compare with them for 10-15 levels. I was still using them at 40 on my Orc Rogue. Smiley: tongue

Look at the stats and compare; if the new armor has more Agi and AP, pick it up. If not, don't.

Gearing isn't hard til you get to 70 and have to choose between X% crit and XXX RAP.

Hunters are much less gear dependent than some classes. We could almost run around in our skivvies as we level as long as we have a good ranged weapon and pet’s skills are up to date. I happen to enjoy having armor that matches. So I like to collect full sets of armor as I level. And I’m talking about a full set of armor with the same name that does not give any extra stats for having the full set. There are a lot of nice sets out there as we level up. My 51 blood elf hunter is currently wearing most of the Warmonger set. But I’ve not been able to find the boots or gloves to save my virtual life.

A nice set for the low 30s is the Archer’s set:

The elf in the picture is wearing the wrong pants, but you get the idea.

If you enjoy looking good and you aren’t having trouble leveling then wear what you like. If how you look is important to you, I’d suggest looking in the AH from time to time and try on armor that’s a bit higher level than you are. If you find something that you think looks good then start buying it up. Then it will be waiting for you when you reach that level. Then go find another set to search for.
