Okay, I know Desolation is more tailored to Enhance Shaman, and Beast Lord toward Hunters. But really both are great for the other (set bonuses aside). I noticed Beastlord's has no crit, but a lot of agility. The only reason I consider debating between the two is because my 70 hunter is an alt, and I don't want to waste money on a flying mount just to go to Tempest Keep to get Beast Lord's :D.
I am just wondering what people's thoughts are about Desolation on hunters. Please take into consideration that I am Beast Mastery specced and not changing, and yes I know about Beast Lord's 4 pc bonus.

I've managed to get 4 pieces of Beast Lord's and 3 pieces of Desolation.
The result, I'm wearing two pieces of Beast Lord's and that's it.
Why? As a BM spec, the agility of Beast Lord's is too good to pass up for Desolation. IMO a MM spec hunter has better use for Desolation, Surv even more.
Also, the two piece bonus for Beast Lord's is amazing. That extra time off the cooldown on your traps will save your *** so many times, expecially on heroic difficulty. 35 hit rating not quite so much.
So why am I not wearing the 4 pieces of Beast Lord for that bonus? You don't want to focus on Kill Command to the loss of your shot cycle. Even if you have a great macro that allows you to weave KC in nicely, 600 armor reduction IMO isn't worth it. You can find other pieces to replace those 2 from Beast Lord's that increase YOUR dps/stats better.
*footnote* I'm wearing the shoulders and gloves from Beast Lord. Only until I get better gear from Kara however; then I'll just have to live without that 2 piece bonus.

Okay yeah that is a bigger hit in agi than I thought. But what about the 69 crit rating from Desolation set? That's like 3.5% crit or something, more than the agility on Beast Lord's has to offer. Then again, 4 seconds on traps does help a lot, especially because I always watch out for when the healer pulls aggro; I can just distracting shot it to me and freeze him quicker.
It looks like I"m gonna have to suck it up and buy the flying mount so I can do Tempest Keep, 'cause Desolation is harder to get because of the heroics it drops in. I have the money, just no time to farm Revered for those 2-3 different factions : /.
And Smoothrustic, I see your point that a MM hunter would definitely make better use out of Desolation, especially if they have Careful Aim; the int boost from Desolation would give a crazy amount of AP.

Desolation is tailored for Enhancement shammies, like you said, but I'd rather have beast lord in every slot over desolation. Dont get too caught up over trying to farm a set though fox, because in a lot of cases there are far better random blues than the set items.
