New Hunter shot ideaFollow

Fatal Shot: A shot that causes 50% weapon damage and damages the target for 200 damage every 3 seconds over 15 seconds. Can only be used when target is under 20% health. If the shot doesn't kill the target, it will enrage and go after the hunter.

What do you think? I always felt we needed an ability like this.

Too strong a shot to be added to Hunters while the rest of the wow world screams nerf. Everyone would just complain that we got another guaranteed 1000 damage shot. Not too mention I would have to agree that it would be a little OP. For 70s that would gaurantee about 1250 damage over 15 secs, and for some classes at 70 and most classes under 70, 1250 HP is 20% of their HP. So essentially we would hit them with Fatal Shot at 20% and run cuz we know they'd be dead 15 secs later.

P.S. Just get some more attack power and launch one last arcane shot for 1k damage lol. We're unstoppable already man!

1250 HP is 20% of a classes HP at 70?

My girlfriend's lock (which is not well-geared at all) has 8k HP. Smiley: rolleyes

1) Why do you feel we need another shot?

2) Great idea, a shot which is based on weapon damage, has a non scaling dot effect and some rather stupid effect which can lead to a ton of exploits. Enraging mob going after the hunter, who started to run some 30 seconds before and the whole raid chasing the mob and nuking him? Yay, thats a shot we really need...

So it's just arcane shot and serpent sting in one shot?
What's this 'enrage' about, wouldn't the mob already be coming after you?
How does it work for PVP?

hmm useless I say. If you want a new shot, which i think we don't really need it, there was on Allakhazam hunter spell list(or maybe it's still there) a Black Arrow or Black Shot that lowers target speed by 70% and drains 300 mana and Hp, effect lasts 30 seconds. This would be nice in thee survival tree as the last point.

Hunters probably do have enough, but how would this sound "Dark Arrow?" Instant cast, autamatically aims a dark arrow shot at your pet's corpse that summons the skeleton of your pet to fight for you, wouldn't have to last too long maybe 10-12 seconds but would sure be cool to see even though it would be the kind of thing only an undead hunter would have but that racial class doesn't exist -_- and yes I got the idea WC3...

HAHA i like that last idea about the pet.. i agree that would be pretty cool.. but you would have ali hunters like me screaming for something like that for them.. maybe a bright arrow to summpn the heroic spirt of the ali pet to fight for 10-12 sec.. yea thats sounds gay but just brain storming..=)

A DoT that can only be used only 20%? Dot's are specifically better for longer fight stuff...

Honostly what i want is not for a new spell, but an old one to get better. at level 70 ive noticed viper sting to be the most useless ability. 1500 mana aint aton.

viper sting is not useless! It's useless vs a mage, warlock and priest, but for a paladin with allready low mana it is devastating, or a shaman and even a hunter.
What i really don't like is Scorpion Sting. 5% lower chance to hit is useless at 70 when, even if you don't want you make 70-100 hit rating. Scorpid Sting should scale somehow or atleast make it the way it was, when it reduced Agility and Strenght.

How about...

Snipe Shot- 250 mana, 2 sec cast, 30 sec cooldown, 30-75 yd. range. A long range shot that deals 50% weapon damage and stuns the target for 5 sec.

Maybe a little overpowered, but I think its a good idea.

Attempt to execute your target with a fatal shot that increases ranged damage by <Aimed Shot value>. The hit will always be critcal, but has a x0% chance to miss due to the close range. Can only be used on stunned targets and must be performed from behind.

I always wanted a sort of finisher. Smiley: grin

Your objection seems to be a PvP one. But it's an excellent Sting in PvE. This is my Sting of choice. No worries about breaking CC, and the Tank or anyone else being beaten on is taking less damage. Which is one of the key stones of a successful raid. If your going to use a Sting at all, this should be the one.

To the OP: Hunters have an excellent variety of ranged attacks. And plenty of customization possible with Talents. We don't need any other new shots, we're powerful enough as it is.

Actually this is a really great ability.
I suspect you do not do very much PvE. Giving your tank a buff (ok it gives the monsters a debuff, but the result is the same) that makes him take 5% less damage is huge. Actually I was in groups in which the tank stated that they'll start looking for hunters in there groups just because of this nice little debuff.

Ever though about the fact that not every spell is useful in PvP? This is a clear PvE spell, whilst others are more for PvP.

Scorpid Sting is useful even in PvP. Wiping a DoT on you target to trap them = great.

Plus, Scorpid Sting + AotM + Deterrence = pissed off Warrior/Rogue.
