Best talents for group pve?Follow

#1 Apr 20 2007 at 11:14 PM Rating: Decent
I used to play wow about a year ago, and I'm starting again soon. I don't know much about the expansion, and how the mage has changed. I think I'll be starting a new mage, but I really have no idea which tree I should put most of my points into. I'm looking for high damage output, and I'm not going to pvp that much until I'm a much higher level. I've been reading around, and I was thinking something like 40/x/x, but I'm not entirely sure.

When you're at the lower end of the gear scale, a 40/21/0 or a 41/20/0 will be the highest damage build.

As your gear gets better, a 10/48/3 will overtake it.

However, are you already at 70? If not, you might look for a leveling build first and respec later.

No, I'm starting a new character, he's not 70. So would you recommend a grinding arc/fire or maybe a grinding arc/frost build? What would the point distribution look like? x/x/x

Echou's talent progression guide is the place to go for leveling builds, but I'd personally end up with a build something akin to 10/48/3 but leveling focused(I'd drop certain talents and pick up others).

I'm deep frost and love it (for now) and level just fine. I can solo things groups have problems with, I can aoe grind, I don't have huge downtime...basically I love it.

That said, frost is in for a few changes coming soon. A good strat I've had with previous builds of fire were to take arc to PoM (presence of mind). Another good build for leveling is put points in fire to impact, then frost it up. But of course I am a bit bias being in love with my frost mage and all.

The Talent Progression Guide mentioned can be found in the Index of Mage Guides along with many other good guides that I think will help you out.

Happy Mage'ing :D
