[Hunter] Haste or CritFollow

#1 May 02 2011 at 9:32 PM Rating: Decent
Alright I have looked up many different threads and I am trying to figure this out. I have 16.00% haste and 22.00% crit but I think I have to much haste but if I am reading this right soft cap is at like 40% for crit and your not supposed to have more than like 10-11% crit. When I try more crit and 11% haste my Dps drops. Which is a Better way to work this.

That does sound like a lot of haste. When I skimmed over that lengthy EJ post about MM haste, it just went right over my head. And frankly I don't care THAT much. As for 16% haste that does sound really high. I've read somewhere around like 10.60% or something with 4pc T11. I don't remember what all that gets you and what not.

You can read through all the EJ MM Haste stuff if you want.

From what I've read, 4T11 changes the discussion of haste completely. Without it, (numbers for SV only - but the principle is the same for all), 5.9% is practically your first priority, then the benefit levels off until you softcap at 17.6%, and it's functionally impossible to hardcap, so this is the most benefit your core rotation will see from haste. Whereas with 4T11, you get the first target for free, the softcap is at 5.9%, and the hardcap is out there at 27.1% - and the hardcap is a major dps boost to the core rotation.

So my plan gearingwise, since 4T11 will likely depend on the benevolence of BH to attain in the near future, is to basically split the difference until I have the gear available to be at 15% or so, then crunch gemming etc. for the softcap.

Use femaledwarf to tweak your stat balance, it saves a lot of cash on reforging and will give you a good idea which stat will be more beneficial since it re-evaluates the worth of each stat with the changes you make.

So since we are talking caps, what is the going rate these days for mastery (SV spec if that matters)?

edit: yikes, old post is old...but yet still relevant?

Oh sorry, I meant to actually reply.

1) Necrothreads are awesome

2) No idea about the caps.

I believe the overall crit will burst out more damage. I used to go to ironforge and trained on the dummies there to see the difference of an setup. You can also make some duels and you will get some impression of it. To get a more proper answer you would need to make the math. I saw a great thread somewhere on a ZAM forum .. but I’m so sorry that I don’t remember anymore where it was:-(
