Is there any way around the specific video card requirments. I have a laptop with an Intel accelerator that wont let the game run. Please help me out, with mobile access I don't get to play very often. Thanks Phaeden.

Even if you could install something that would magically allow it to run, the reason the requirements are how they are is that extremely low-end hardware simply won't be able to run the game at a playable framerate.

um... no.

What you need is a program called 3danalyze, i believe most people use version 1.64 for ffxi. Basicaly alot of laptops with integrated chipsets dont support the T&L Lighting/shading feature... So what you have to do in order to run FFXI in full screen is disable T&L and/or emulate it... Hope this helps even though only reason i got on IE to reply is cause of the dumb *** above me who thinks he knows it all... but heh allah is full of em.

If the physical hardware doesn't meet the requirements then you need new hardware.

When it comes to video memory there is really no way around it without either kicking up it's allocation it takes from the memory pool or other means (all possible but requires a lot of patience and knowledge).

I can't really tell you but I know there is those USB Video card adapters however I think those still go by what your motherboard allocates for video ie: 32mb, 64mb, etc.

I think there was also a geek who built a kit which is a external enclosure which allows you to use normal desktop PCI cards which would allow you to use the built in memory on the card. I will try and dig up the link as when I found it I thought it was a neat idea and actually built one myself.

I will edit this post if I can find something for you.

Sorry I wasn't more help.

Yes, there is a way, but you still will not have a very good gaming experiance. The only one I have tried is the villiagetronics VTbook
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Viewsonic/VTBOOK/

it works. but it isn't ideal. Especially the $300 price tag.
