Odd POL/FFXI error (was forum=10)Follow

I'm having some odd errors with FFXI and wondering if anyone know how to fix it?

I get the same **** when trying to check maps and the glowy stuff at the crags.

Computer stats this is happening on:
Intel CPU T2300 (Dual Core) 1.66GHz
1GB DDR RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon X1300
Windows XP Pro

It's a laptop I only use to play with while I'm not at home, it's more of an annoyance than a problem, but would be good to get rid of it.
Any suggestions?
