FFXI error 3113 timeout/acquiring player dataFollow

#1 Mar 10 2007 at 1:50 PM Rating: Decent
Since the recent update I was able to log on successfully a couple times, then at log off got a blank screen and had to crtl/alt/del out. Since then get the error noted in subject line. Have talked to GM as tech support is only avail weekdays, and he said SEI is continuing to investigate this issue, thousands of players are having the same issue, that it may be an ISP issue as well. Did system restore to prior to issues, rebuilt adapter...basically redid everything related to aol, but still get same error message at log in. Uninstalled Norton to see if that was the issue and still no change. I'm out of ideas, as each is pointing the finger at the other. This lady really needs some help, please. "Help me Kao Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!" ;)

I'm having the same problem too ever since last night. The phone support and web support are down for the weekend and the GM's are not helpful at all! At least it is good that I'm not the only one having this problem!

Stupid SE, I'm having the same issue it gets stuck at acquiring player data, than it times out. /sighs

I don't see how it's an IP issue, my IP hasn't changed anything!

A GM told me to reset my IP address, and that worked for her, but shouldn't wouldn't couldn't give me any details on how to do that. AOL support says they change my IP address each time I sign on. My guess is this all has to do with the data mining, and that some built in protections in some ISPs is regjecting "sending back" information from users' computers. This bug is only present in PC users as far as I am aware. If anyone has any suggestions at all I would certainly appreciate it. I'm finding no solace in knowing I'm not alone in this. :( Good luck all!!

Mine also times out after the march 9th update, it gets to "Acquiring Server Data" and sits there until it times out. I've disabled every security setting on my router, unblocked ports (25-423 and 50000-65535 for POL.EXE and POLBOOT.EXE), and turned off the firewall completely. Always gets stuck, every time.
Oddly enough, I was able to walk outside and use a neighbor's open network to login just fine, but I still get the same problem while trying to use my own network.

This is obviously a SE problem they aren't fessing up to. At this rate it'll be Tuesday or Wensday before it's fixed...

I have been having this uberaggrivating problem since Thursday as well. Login gets to "Aquiring Player Data" then times out and gives me the 3113 error message. I was on PS2 when it first happened so of course I jumped on PC but still the same thing happened to me.. so it's not just PC users. Wasn't my ISP either as I contacted them to let them know and they ran their tests or w/e. Going to try unplugging router and modem like other ppl have suggested.
Edit: Just unplugged modem and gave it a minute to get back online... and voila I can finally log it. WooTzOrz

Unplugged my modem and waited for it to get connection back up. THis seemed to work miracles because I could log in to FFXI right away. SE and ATT didn't think to tell me to try this, so if you're having the same prob this might work for you.

Just an update. Am able to log into FFXI by completely bypassing my router. Have tried several times to use router again, each time unable to log into FFXI or even connect with internet at all. So, my thinking is that either by some great coincidence (there are no coincidences, only seeming coincidences, lol) my router decided to die at the exact moment of the SE update, or the update did indeed scramble my router, rendering it FUBAR. Thank you everyone who posted to this subject...hope all is running smoothly for you! ^^
