FFXI ran like a dream, until...Follow

So yeah. FFXI ran perfectly. Best settings, best everything, until one night I needed to reformat my computer (bluescreen on turn on computer, something about unmountable boot volume).

Did that, yada yada yada.

I then reinstalled the correct drivers and whatnot, and finally ffxi.

My computer then decided that it hates 11. It kept blue screening either:
-Less than 30 seconds into the game (most common)
-About a good hour/two hour run
Now, I know it has to do with the graphics, what it says I cannot remember because I forgot how to "Do the opposite of turning off the bluescreen". Yeah, I know, but at midnight, my vocab is shot. But whenever I send the crash data to microsoft, they say its the graphics.

Great hoogly booglies, what am I to do?

psbtw: Running on a Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop with the Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family (yes it has been updated)

edit: Things I have done so far->

-ran w/ and w/o windower
-ran on lowest settings possible graphics
-ran on highest settings possible graphics (believe me, after seeing the worst setting graphics, you go like YAY PRETTY)
-tried "hiding" the game (while using windower) under other maximised windows when zoning
-dancing naked around a fire chanting in tounge
-Unchecking "Enable code writing"
-I didnt really do the dancing naked, but it sounds like that might be my only option right now

Are you using the same version drivers for your graphics card prior to the re-install?

Are you using the same version of DirectX?

Are you able to run the bench 3 program from playonline's website?

If it's a graphics issue with just FFXI and nothing else then it's usually a driver or settings issue. If this is happening with all applications and is crashing at different intervals it could be either hardware or software.

I know that when a memory module fails it will blue screen but usually it will do it all the time if not just completely toast your card.

Ensure you are using the same setting pre install, if anything make sure to try using the DirectX 9c version also.

Don't worry to much about #5 as it rarely happens and I have only seen it in my lifetime about 3 times, and I work on computers for a living.

Also a huge help if you see it is get the actual error you see should have an error code on it like 03XE blah blah. Might be able to pin point your error a little closer for you.

Now, somehow, I have my computer set so when it crashes, it only flashes bluescreen then reboots, rather than just idling on bluescreen. How do I reverse that?

To stop it from automatically restarting, go to my computer, right click it, then go to the Advanced tab. Go to startup and recovery and uncheck the box that has automatically restart. Should hold on the BSoD so you can get information.
Hope that helps, and hope you get it figured out, the BSoD can be rather annoying.

Lol, BSoD is BlueScreen of Death. Just another reference to the bluescreen that you get.

Ok, it finally crashed. It likes to be fickle.

This is what it said:

The file that wasn't working was igxpdx32.dll

the error was called "page fault in unpaged area"

Then all the "if this was the first time you have crashed...blah"

then

***Stop: 0x00000050 (0xE1353104,0x00000000, 0xBF35CE85, 0x00000081)

***igxpdx32.dll - Adress BF35CE85 base at BF1CC000 Datestamp 459260(7 or 1) (I wrote it down fast and my 7s look like 1s sometimes >.<)

hopefully thats enough info ^_^ thank you again.

Seems like a problem with your graphics. I remember that Intel chipsets were not ideal for use with FFXI. With a laptop you might be stuck.

But, 11 ran on best settings before I reformatted, like, causing jealousy among my friends settings.

Looking up igxpdx32.dll came back with Intel Graphics accelerators. Something has changed post format.

Is there a way to revert back to it? Or can I erase the .dll file?

What you can do is go into manage devices and basically remove the driver and then install what came with your computer from the factory. Once you have OEM drivers on there you can then proceed to step it up 1 version at a time until you find the one which you had before (make a point to write that bad boy down XD)

Yeah, Intel and FFXI really don't get along however you can find a few driver versions which work wonderful, just don't dare update them. I am in the same situation with my Nvidia cards as I have an semi older version and it works better then the new releases.

sorta got off topic sorry, go here to delete your drivers;
Right click on My Computer -> Manage -> click on device manager on the left.

Go to Display adapters and find your driver and right click and uninstall. Once you reboot it should ask you for a disk which you will place in your OEM disk.

don't erase the .dll manually that can cause a whole mess of problems in some cases.

And here comes the new problem.

The drivers disk for the system has 4 things I can install.

-Intel Mobile Chipset Rev:09 (for system models of MXC051, 710m , or ME051)
and
-Ricoh R5C832 Rev: A00

edit: I tried installing all of them, none of them worked. wtfudge
