Internet Explorer Not Loading ALL Sites :'(Follow

#1 Aug 21 2007 at 10:41 AM Rating: Decent
I don't know what's going on... I have high speed internet, my laptop is fairly decent (runs FFXI with 0 lag...). So why can't I access all websites? I try to log onto www.facebook.com and it kinda just sits there. I see the little bar moving at the bottom, but I eventually end up at a screen saying
"Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Page" or whatever.

I tried on my SBCYahoo browser too. Still nothing. I was gonna ignore the facebook situation, but since I can't log on to 24hourfitness career center website, I figured I'd come here and ask around. anyone know what the cause could be?

Have you tried pinging the affected sites? And can you get to the sites in another web browser(Firefox, Opera)

Are you at work or at home? If at work you might be behind a firewall and your network admin might be banned selected sites. If at home, ping is your friend.

You do the following;

Go to start menu, then hit the run option

in the run menu type cmd

Once a command prompt opens type in ping website.com

That will ping it and tell you how many were received and how many failed. Please be aware some websites will block pings.

Unless you are either:

a) Running Windows Vista
b) On a network where the 'run' command has been disabled from the start menu, which a smart IT person will do right off the bat.

In either case press the Windows Key + R for the 'run' box and follow Bijiont's instructions from there on out.

Yeah, well trying to keep it simple lol. Yeah Windows Key + R is another good shortcut forgot to mention that one.

Yeah, all our factory line computers have everything disabled. We set them into a shell environment so that way they can't break things, well unless you use that nifty "Help" hack but not to many people will know about that unless you been in a shell environment or played in one.
