Last night (Thursday night) I saw the same gilsellers farming the same goobbues in Zitah, while listening to reports of gilsellers camping NMs all over the place. After hearing that a gilseller was holding ownership of the morion worm to drive the AH price up on the tathlum, I lost my temper a bit. I called a GM immediately, even though everyone said they would just tell me there was nothing they can do about it and I would be banned if I called them more than once. I was contacted by a GM, who, after I told him how fed up I was, informed me that he plays FFXI on a different server and was also really irritated about the gilseller situation. His suggestion to me, which makes a whole lot of sense, was to bypass the GMs. They don't hold the power in the game. He suggested we use the POL support system and get EVERYONE we know to send emails complaining about how the gilsellers ruin the game. Think of it as a petition. He said the POL support emails actually go to SE, whereas the GM calls end at the GMs. If we get enough people to send these emails, maybe they will take notice. PLEASE send an email, preferably one every day (even if it's just a copy of the same email each day) to let them know how much we hate these gilsellers. Things you can include in the email:

*Driving AH prices up so noone can afford the gear they need
*MPKing people with their pulls to ensure they can claim the NMs
*Holding ownership of NMs to keep others from getting the item
*Preventing other people from farming items to afford gear they will ACTUALLY USE
*Include any personal stories you can think of (hell, make one up, if you wish) on how these gilsellers ruin the game for you and your friends

You might even want to remind them that World of Warcraft is about to go gold, as well as mentioning the recent release of Everquest 2. If SE believes the gilsellers will cause them to lose more accounts than they are paying for, SE will be forced to do something. Afterall, MONEY is the problem for us, so let's show them that it could turn into THEIR problem, too!

The email support can be found after logging in to POL and selecting Final Fantasy XI. Go into "Service and Support", select Support, then "E-mail support". It will ask you what category you want the email classified as. I suggest putting it in as a "Problem report" to get it some much needed attention. TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS!

Dearie, I did this long ago and all I got from SE was "Thank you for your concern, we will look into the matter further."

Yes, that was their response to ONE email. I think the response would be a little different if they received THOUSANDS of emails. What do you have to lose, other than a couple of minutes per day to send the email. Things will never change if we don't make it happen.

Hmm, I like it.

Hopefully this won't take as long as the letter campaign in Shawshank...

Sorry to put a somewhat pointless reply up here, but I have to give kudos to FlasheartTheCat. Awesome reference!

Yeah seriously my friend bought snipers rings for 450K each (1M each now) ochiudo's kote for 400K (700K now) a valkyries mask for 100K (700K now) emp hairpin for 300K (550K now) and leaping boots for 200K (500K now) it's rediculous and people are dumb enough to pay those prices. Gil sellers just **** me off in Sanc. Of Zitah theres this galka drg who's there 24/7 taking all the gobdues.

Perhaps another option that could be taken and i will gladly be the one to see it through with everyones support.

If you want this to stop maybe the only option will be to hit Square Enix where it hurts, there wallet, we all know that part of the reason square enix does nothing is because with all the accounts that gil farmers possess they are making a fortune off of them

They feel that cancelling X amount of gil farmers accounts out weighs the amount of accounts that the average players will cancel. well maybe we have to put it a little more clearly for them,

My suggestion is send your Character names, server, and whether or not you will end up leaving vana diel because of this, at the bottom of this will be an email address, i will put all this information into a spread sheet and send it to them once a day, eventually they will have to do something

Also in your emails if you have any other suggestions please include them, i will gladly take any feedback i can get

Let's get a list going here.
We need not only do we need to stop the gilfarmers, we need to move this game away from just being a gilmaking game. If I wanted to play a gilmaking game, I'd play Rollercoaster Tycoon.
We can use the stopthefarmers@hotmail.com as a good start.
Everyone who wishes to put an end to this, please respond with your char name, mule names, and email address.
We can also post this in the main forums. Maybe if the list is long enough, we can actually make a difference. It's so aggravating that all of our concerns are falling on deaf ears when it comes to SE. I know for a fact that someone at SE knows about these forums and has read our complaints. We can suggest ways to make this game fun the way it used to be in the beginning. We need to take it to them, and if they still do not listen, then you guys all know what to do.
So who's with me?

Valdrith, I'm with ya....I'll be the first one to sign this petition. Please post this in the main forums so we can get others from the other servers to join in.

Tzipporah, Exocet, Fuzzynuggets, Hairybeanbag

who else is with me?

Gilseller is a problem? Yes I agree

But...

I blame those who would actually buy the stuff gilsellers are selling. As long as the demand is there people will pay the prices. As for the price being so goshdarn high, well if you get leaping boots do you sell it at 300k or 500k? As much as I hate to admit it, I will be greedy and try to sell it at 500k. Also I have to gripe about this, STOP UNDERCUTTING. Yeesh I took a break on making arrowwood lumber (when it was at 2800gil a stack) when i came back i found that the price is at 1800 gil (11/13/'04) that's a 66% of its original price!!! Sure I have other methods of making money but the Gilsellers have the right idea, they don't undercut each other while we do.

I have afew things to say about that statement.

#1 I have no idea who I am buying from when I buy something. If I need Magic Pot Shards, to level alchemy, im going to buy them. I know that these are a gil farmed item, but Im not going to NOT buy them because SE refuses to do anything about the problem. I do want to level alchemy.

#2 Arrowood Lumber huh? I am willing to bet that 90% of the sales are by a little fellow called Benyi. He was going hard at woodworking afew weeks back when I was leveling it abit. All he does is buy arrow logs, craft the lumber using A lumberjack and sell them, usually for 2k +/- <I dont know if he is a gilfarmer, but thats all I have ever seen him do.>edit

Ok this is a bit of a conundrum isn't it?
People are complaining of skyrocketing prices in the AH, but then someone starts complaining when the prices drop (ie undercutting).
So which is it? Do you want price gouging or undercutting? Take your pick.
Personally, I prefer undercutting to price gouging.
