Seeing as how it is on hiatus and there's no reason to let this thread die until the misery starts up again, today's Fairy Tail brings with it the eventual "possible" rematch between Natsu, Gajeel, and Laxus. A three way free-for-all would be awesome, in my humble opinion. Then probably a two-on-two vs. the "Generation 3 Dragonslayers" at the end, and I'd guess it'd be Natsu and Laxus with a "I'm redeeming myself" sort of reasoning.
I'm okay with this.

Damn. I thought he said he was "halfway done" with his planned material just a year ago? But then he got bogged down in the Hueco Mundo arc, which was supposed to be 6 months long then turned into two or three years or whatever. Actually, all the arcs were supposed to be 6 months to a year long, and they ended up double or triple that.
Two years maybe, for this arc to finish then. Still plenty of Bleach to go.
I'm guessing during this break he had a long talk with the editors, who pointed out that he jumped the shark a few arcs ago and while he thought he was halfway done, he was closer to 3/4ths of the way done with what anyone could consider a reasonable amount of story based on the universe he built. Ironically, by setting it in this world he limited himself. Compare that to One Piece, which is halfway over because they've halfway finished their circumnavigation of the globe.
The only way Bleach could extend itself any more is if we find out there are more flavors of Soul Society than just the fuedal Japan one we've met already.
I'd be a little disappointed to see Bleach go. It has been the equivalent of a seeing a massively bloody multi-car pile up. Wouldn't doubt a Soul King related arc, who will turn out to be Brook Ichigo's mom. Or, you know. Could be absolutely anything because Bleach doesn't like to make sense.
And in Fairy Tail news, we have Assassin's Creed: Earthland.

If you haven't read it be prepared for a complete 180. It's like Kube took every criticism to heart and used the break to rectify all of them. No more empty back grounds. No more sputtering around wasting time and drawing things out. I have to say this looks incredibly promising.
If you have read it yet I thought I'd attempt a troll, in honor of Kube. Still, hard to believe that two of the big three will be over soon.

Personally, my gut says that that's the direction he'd go for a spin off, more than an extension. Bleach itself is a bit too single-spot centric to really manage to drag something like that into the story, even for tite kubo. Though, tbh, I can't say I wouldn't enjoy seeing him do a same-universe spin off with, say, non-japanese themed shinigami, like, "Grim Reapers" or "Angels of Death" in a more European setting, where they're still shinigami, just with differently shaped zanpakutou. Honestly though, I think part of my reasoning for this is because I love tite kubo's blatant trolling

I wonder if hanataro yuki ryuunosuke (first person I thought of when I saw him, though they're noticeably different in appearance) is actually going to be relevant to the plot... my gut says "No, he's going to be tite kubo's 'time extension via random unrelated character story' character"

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!
In Other Big Three news, you should see the pairing wars that erupted all over the Naruto forum I hang out in.
SEE IT WILL END NARUHINA BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO HOLD HIS HAND
NO NO WAIT IT WILL END NARUSAKU BECAUSE SHE WANTS EVERYONE TO BE THERE TO HELP HIM
Personally, I don't give a rat's *** about naruto, he's so far outside of gamebreakingly badass and into marty stu territory at this point that even for a shounen series the willing suspension of disbelief is stretching thinner than fuuton: rasenshuriken's blades something really, really thin that isn't insanely nerdy to reference. Besides, Everyone knows shikamaru's the main character, he's just so lazy that he lets naruto do all the "attention getting" and "big hero" moments while guiding him from the shadows.
If there's a spin-off/continuation about the next generation, where the konoha 11 are all teachers and such, ie: 10 year time skip, I hope it'll be about asuma's kid so we get to see adult shikamaru being shikamaru

But in a Naruto series, the adults are useless/dead!
The problem with the "industry" is that it assumes that we wish to remain passive consumers of content, eager to get our dribbles of their stuff when they deem it ready to share with us.
We are not passive, we are active, and dammit, we want our Jump comics 24 hours after the book is out in Japan.
It's the exact same issue as the music and movie industry here in the States: The world around them is evolving, and they aren't evolving how they present their product to keep up, leading to stuff like this happening.
Anyone know other websites that still have it weekly? Edit: Mangafox, for the moment.
