If anyone follows this webcomic, Rich Berlew's injured hand has finally healed to the point where there's a new comic after all these many months.

He also said that most likely there won't be a regular release schedule for quite a while.

All his wife mentioned was that he injured it on broken glass, no information on whether he threw the first punch during the bar fight.

I did like the little panel about Sir Thumb vs the Broken Glass. Nice little winknudge.

I'd hesitate to say there was ever a regular release schedule Smiley: laugh In a sense, it's one of those comics almost better left untouched for six months then you read through the backlog in a single evening. Hoping each day for an update just leads to despair.

IIRC before the accident he was on a steady Mon-Wed-Fri schedule, but I agree that it's worth the wait.

Nah, it was always pretty shaky. Not to say that he didn't strive for a regular schedule but there were frequent gaps in the output. On another forum, there's a running thread about the comic and it was always a moment of rejoicing when someone would post "A new comic is up!".

At least it's not as sporadic as Erfworld.

Or VGCats.

VGCats yes, but Erfworld was steady until the current artist hit sporadic depression mood swings due to the loss of her mother and random illnesses. I don't know why the author doesn't hire a temp to perm artist in case the current one doesn't get better.

Erfworld has always been, at best, in my "Will probably update once a week...maybe" segment of my daily comics to check. Even before Xin's problems. Even before Xin. The text updates have helped, but even then we often don't get the amount of updates promised. Not saying it's anywhere near as bad as VGCats, but it's at least as sporadic as pre-accident OOTS.

VG Cats I just pulled off my list. Wasn't worth staring at the same comic for seven weeks.

The thing about Erfworld is that it's been hit with misfortune after misfortune. Rob's stuck through it, but even back when Jamie was the artist pages were pretty infrequent.

After the switch to the new site and Book 2, there was the whole thing with the text updates and the main comic taking a break, then Xin's mother died, and then Xin got sick, and then... (and so on and so forth).

Rob's trying to get as much out as he can, but he's been pretty unlucky as far as "sh*t going down" goes.

VGCats has no excuse.

At least Homestuck doesn't even pretend to have a schedule, and uploads a few pages whenever the author gets around to it. You don't have to check and be disappointed every other weekday.

In other news, the world still turns, and Penny Arcade still updates every goddamn MWF.

Just FYI: Rich has put out a set of new comics this week, so you may want to catch up if you haven't checked in a while.

The fight this week has been awesome thus far. Much better cleric fight than the last one. Smiley: laugh

Yeah, they really blew the special effects budget on the last one.

It's good to see Durkon kicking some vampire ***. Though, I think he's being illogical. I mean, he knew Malack was evil anyways, didn't he? I don't recall, but isn't it a requirement to be the same alignment as your god for a cleric? And thus, as another cleric Durkon stands a good chance of having enough religious knowledge to know about Malack's god (or goddess, it might be Tiamat, I don't remember). My point is, I think Malack was right, they got along just fine before, and there was no real reason that had to end, especially since Malack was willing to be civil about it and even went the "vegetarian" route and only took nourishment from the executed.

Anyways, I'm hoping the party gets back together soon. V's character development is delicious and all, but running around in a dungeon when the Linear Guild is pulling shenanigans is not what I would have advised right now.

Durkon's naturally illogical, although he probably takes some of it from his god. Remember his stance on trees?

I don't think Durkon knew Malack was evil either at the time. All he knew was "fellow cleric of a different god" IIRC.

Also keep in mind that Durkon just saw him attempting to create a spawn out of Belkar. That alone pretty much screwed the pooch on them working civilly together to Durkon, I think.

By who, though? There's not many clerics powerful enough for a resurrection, and I assume most of the random freelancer clerics wouldn't be at that point. IIRC, it was a pretty big issue when talking about getting Roy raised.

It wasn't so much as who can do it, as Durkon is able to resurrect people, but gathering the required materials for the resurrection spell. To raise Roy they required a diamond about the size of a baby's head, but I can't remember if this was due to the amount of decomposition his body went through while they were looking for it.

Edit: After reading page 877 (which I did not realized was up at the time of the above post) the most like cleric they will use to bring Durkon back is his "girlfriend", the cleric of Loki that Nale used as Durkon's opposite in one of the versions of the Linear Guild.

You can't have an alignment change without a palette swap.
