The price on this item has gone up 2.5 million in less than a month, last 2 sales 6 million, sale before that was 5 million.

I'm asking anyone that wants this item to boycott it until the price comes down again.

SE needs to make that Rare/EX. The prices are out of control for that.

I've visited Castle Oz probably about six times total since I've been playing. And each time a gil seller group is camping it.

i agree with everything posted. its not like its a godly piece of gear anyway. i cant believe people are paying 5-6 mil for that. its outrageous and i think shiva should boycott the O kote and show the gilsellers whats up

Addition, Boycott the Brown Belt as well.

This piece of equipment is only used for mnk, level 40 belt. Mnk is honestly the only job that should quest this item as if they are going to play it to end game then need to do the quest and have it complete in order to obtain the black belt. Granted not all monks will do the black belt quest as the items are difficult to obtain but it is -0- use to any other job. The only use another job has for this item is to toss it on the AH.

I would not have any issues with either item being changed to rare/ex, the only problem I can see is due to the quest for the black belt forcing you to give up the brown belt it would be nice to have both for level capped missions, IE CoP.

As far as I'm aware, kotes are awefully nice to have but not truly essential. Right?

I second the boycott. Especially because I only have 200K and intend to take monk to 75. If I had to farm 6 mill worth I'd end up killing something more than mobs.

O kote aren't essential for mnk .. or sam .. or nin

just a nice pair of red gloves with some attk
i agree on these being made Rare/ex like what they did with leaping boots and emp hairpin

they need to make items such as these which are over camped by that asshat gil sellers and take it away from them.

brown belt i think should also be mnk exlusive... seeing as it's a mnk exclusive item .. like your mnk needs to be the lvl of the belt like AF i guess to be able to open the quest to be able to attain it

just a few ideas.. not all my own .. got from mnk forum in a thread they had there a while back .. but i think it holds some grounds in this post

I think everyone can agree, boycott that shiznit!

Because, before you know it, O-kote and Kirin's Osode will be running neck and neck.

Yea as we all know making NM drops r/e doesnt drop the price at all.

Look at emp pin. 1m before update now 3m.
Leaping Boots was like 800k now 1.5m.

In every forum you go to everyone wants their items r/e to combat gilsellers.

If you make every ******* NM item in the game r/e all it will do is 1. drive prices sky high (if they make is bcnm) or 2. cause a "depression" cuz now thats gil not in the economy. SE makes all items r/e then gil is worthless.

People need to grow up and stop ******* crying about everything. Does the price of kote suck ***? hell yes it does. If you dont like it dont ******* pay 6m for em. Gilsellers are only a SMALL part of why **** costs so much.

They raise the price of something 100k then some ******* NA or JP follows by raising that up 500k cuz its the only one on AH.

Stop blaming everyone else and take some damn blame for it.

Dude, you're missing the point.

When people stop buying said item, said item's price will drop down. Hence, the reason for this thread.

Ure missing the point tak. People wont stop buying the item. There are too many rich JPs and RMTing NAs for this to ever work.
#12 Dec 02 2005 at 8:27 PM Rating: Good
****, I guess you're right. But, with most of NA population on Shiva boycotting it, it might bring the price down a little, perhaps make it plateau.

Don't do it. Gilseller are doing this for living. I camp O kote every day now, i claim over 50 times in their sorry faces but no drop, they max get 1 drop a day. So 5Mil a day for them so what? Do you care? You'd camp it won't you(and your gonna sell it)?

PS: Lightnin, Haili, Randomking, Summerly are the botters here, Junping and their buddies went "bye bye"
#14 Dec 02 2005 at 9:39 PM Rating: Good
I noticed that too, just as i'm coming back to my Samurai it skyrockets, so i bought the other kote for 5.8mil i forget the name "Hohomaru" or some ****!
#15 Dec 02 2005 at 10:01 PM Rating: Good
I do agree that it should be made Rare/Ex (Best and only solution.) Many other players, myself included, have made complaints to SE about gilsellers (who use bot programs sometimes) monopolozing Mee Deggi and the other NM that drops the Fuma Kyahan (1.5 mil last i checked). SE won't do a damn thing about it. The gilsellers who hunt this are Setphen, Quanting, Aveling, Oozz, Beleve, Ciapham, Pressthe, Herodragon, and Dankness. I've managed to MPK Ciapham (Get some you biznitch!!!), but thats all i could do. Otherwise i would suggest you hunt the NM with 2 or 3 people to increase chances of claim. Good luck and happy hunting =^.~=

You know Cornholio had a good thing going when he got a bunch of people together to camp stroper chyme. Not quite sure how that worked out, but it's an option as well...

Alright, time for Sophus' rant.

Choky is 100% correct. The fact that "gil sellers" camp this item has nothing to do with the price. Unless they are using programs so that *no one* else but them can get it (which isn't the case), the people responsible for the increase in price is us. The O.Kote is only going to cost what people are willing to pay for it.

Even if 5-10 people opt not to buy it, the overall effect on the price of the item will be nil. The way I see it, you only have 1 of 2 options to lower the price w/o SE intervention:

1) Decrease Demand
2) Increase Supply

The way to decrease demand is simple: camp it yourself. It's not impossible to get (AGM got 2 in one day not that long ago if I remember correctly). If you get it, you don't need to buy it. If no one needs to buy it, the price will go down.

The way to increase supply is...well...a little more complicated.

On the surface, there's only one source for the kote: Mee Degee the Punisher. In actuality, there's 3 sources: the nm, the ah, and the players that already have it.

Now, the players who have it probably won't want to sell it. And if you're camping the item yourself, you probably wouldn't want to sell it either. The only option left would be to buy one off the ah (or use your own if you're feeling really lucky--or vindictive) and manipulate the market.

Basically you'll have to get about 5-10 people and pick a random time and day to wipe the ah history. Someone would need to put up an O.Kote for a lower (but not unreasonable) price. The current price is 5mil? Put it up for 4mil at first. Then have everyone buy it before someone else gets it. Do a couple of transactions like that.

After a few rounds, new people wanting to sell their o.kotes will see the price going down and try to undercut to sell theirs first. Eventually what you "create" is a lower price due to a perceived increase of supply. In actuality, the supply has only increase by 1.

The "gil sellers" who stuck their kotes for 5mil will have to stop their sale and relist their items since the price has dropped over a million. That not only costs them the original AH fees, but the fees of relisting it as well. They'll have to do it, though, because any drop in price is a hit to their quota. It's also guaranteed that they won't relist it at 5mil any time soon since the tax on 5mil adds up.

That method will cost you a good chunk of change. You'll need an initial O.Kote, as well as all ah fees and people with enough money to buy it. When you're done with it, you will have also lowered the value of your O.Kote. However, I guarantee it'll start a lowering trend.

The trick would be to a) make sure someone outside doesn't buy it (space them out over the day) b) don't have the same person who bought it sell it that day (a savvy buyer can smell those scams a mile away) and c) try to clear the AH history so no one knows what the original price was.

This has been a lesson in evil economic manipulation by your good pal, SophusTehNewb.

Jupiter Staff used to be 4mil not too long ago. I've seen it slip down to 2.5 mil last time I checked. I don't know if it's gone any lower/higer, I haven't been in Jeuno for a while.

As long as ppl can buy and sell gil, this **** ain't gonna be coming down. The economy is screwed by greedy ppl putting things up for high, then someone buying it. Then everyone else puts it at that price.

Represent your Onion gear.
