Well, 2005 is just about over with. So, as there is always an annual write up of events that occur in the real world, I've decied to inclued one about events that have occured in our little fictional world! Enjoy!

New Jobs Introduced into the game:
None

Jobs Modified by SE in a positive way (by useful end game gear and or abilities):

Black Mage
Red Mage
White Mage
Samurai
Dragoon
Bard
Summoner
Paladin
Dark Knight
Monk
Warrior

Note: Most of these fall under the "end game gear category"

Jobs modified by SE in a negative way (by useful end game gear and our abilities):

Ranger- Ranged Attack Nerf
Ninja- Shadow Nerf
Beastmaster- Release Nerf

Jobs untouched by SE in any way (by useful end game gear and or abilities):

Thief- Hasn't gotten anything new since Dragon Harness, released at the end of 04.

Positive Actions SE has implemented:

- Lots of new areas added to the game via the CoP expansion.
- For most jobs, lots of useful gear added.
- More difficult and challenging monsters created.
- MPK a thing of the past.

Negative Actions SE has implemented:

-The "adjustments" to NM drops. This has caused those items to sky rocket in price to where newbs who couldn't camp the items, but could farm up the money, can no longer even farm up the money. (Example: Emp Haripin from 1 mil > 3 mil)

-The terrible side effects of the anti-mpk patch (i.e. mobs vanishing if pullers get too far from them, etc).

Problems that SE has not implemented any actions against:

-Gillsellers. This is probably the most prominent of these categories. SE has done effectively nothing to combat the gillsellers (i.e. all they have done is move them around to other camps).

-Oncoming Depression in Economy. The price of gear is outrageous, at all time high's in the server's history (example, scorp harness 3 weeks ago = 6 mil. scorp harness now = 10mil).

-The Linear aspect of the game. It is impossible to accomplish anything still unless you have the right people (i.e. you cannot level unless you have the proper setup, you cannot do missions unless you have the proper setup).

Overall Rating of SE's actions on the game this year:
7/10

SE has done some pretty awesome things; they have made alot of jobs uber, and have added some new fun to the game. However, they get a 7/10 because they have also ignored some pretty huge issues in the game. I being a thief would give them a 1/10 for ignoring us completely throughout this year (all of the gear they have given us has been worthless. Dex+2 AF+1 pants, come on -_-). However, they have done alot of good things for other jobs, and I can't simply overlook that because I'm pissed off at how much they've ignored us.

So, good job SE, you're passing.

But you better step it up for next year, as you are no longer the "newest" popular MMORPG. WoW is quickly draining your members and unless you implement something fast (which I believe they will, with the "Treasures" expansion), the server sizes are going to be reduced by half, leaving around a thousand actual real players.

great post! i still maintain that if people dont like the prices things sell for DONT BUY THE ITEMS. who the hell says you need a SH? or an o kote? NOONE. stop giving in and start boycotting this crap. oh yeah and merry christmas lol XD

(see im not all negativity)

Agree with most of your points, except this one:

I am surprised this thought still exists. You can do anything in the game with any set up, as long as you prepare, strategize and equip properly for it. I have done Rank 10 in Windy and Sandy, Rank 7 Bastok, CoP up to Diablos (going in for the battle this Friday), Zilart up to Ark Angels, all with BST parties, throwing in a few exceptions here or there for other reasons (not because we "needed" another job, we just did not have the BST to do it at the time).

Yes, you may have a hard time with some without the "perfect" set up, but it is possible.

That is all, carry on.

From what I hear, the AF+1 and AF2+1 upgrades for RDM are actually pretty decent.

You've been lied to Shao. The RDM AF+1 sucks just like the original set, with the Tabard and Chapeau being the obvious exceptions.

AF2+1 has the 2 extra points on elemental skill on Duelist Tights and +1 MAB on the boots, seems the rest of the stats on the other parts are just random.

We did get that Wise JSE, (crap basically) this year though didn't we, or is my memory off?

Assassin is useless, in my point of view. All it does is allow SATA to be split up, woohoo...it's a joke honestly.

but its SOMETHING. Plds haven't gotten any new spells, or job abilities since I started playing it. All that has changed is we have raise at 50 now and that was a loooong time ago. And really how does that benefit us.

Paladins got Valor Cape and their AF2+1 is actually useful. As well, I believe relic shield was within this past year?

Assassin was from a year ago, that December patch. I know this because I came back to the game hearing that thf was getting something. Assassin adds more versatility to thf, but I want something else.

Assassin was late december of last year, which falls under last year's category.

SE has not given one new ability or useful piece of equipment to thief this entire year.

And red mage said with the "exceptions of course" being the hat and body... well, there ARE no exceptions for thief AF lol...

What is this valor cape? Knightly Mantle? Why are the thfs crying now? Did they take th, and th2 away? Did they take flee away? Did they make it harder to claim nms? You guys have a leg up on everyone in crucial areas of the game. So why fix what ain't broke. And usually when se tries to fix something they break it more. So be thankful?

Wrip,

Nope, they kept thief the same as it was all year and that's the problem...and I don't feel we have a leg up on anything on any part of the game. Granted we have great solo'ing skills...but so does ninja, mnk/nin, rdm/nin, summoner, a good blm....only thing that seperates us from the rest of the pack is our TH2 and for some of us TH3 or TH4. Kinda why we're TH whores mostly in endgame stuff. Kinda sucks to have to sit out most God fights until near the end...

Most of us have dealt with what's been given to us, this MPK patch has hurt us alittle bit, long pulls require some work to ensure mobs make it back to camp, rng nerf hit us too, I'm sorry I can't carry R. ACC gear on top of my Attack gear and Evasion Gear and SATA gear. I think most of us would actually like to do more damage consistently rather than every minute. Give us Attack gear, give us Kirin's Osode, give us a something that'll decimate the mobs...

And Assasin, again in my opinion, is not the great, yes it allows us to camp behind the tank..but TAWS is weak, SATAWS does alot more damage...

No, but they basically made it worthless. TH2 increases drop rates very insignificantly. THe +TH gear currently has very strong evidence supporting that it is only +1%, which is again hardly noticeable. On top of that, TH2 is a level 45 Thief Ability. As it stands now, a 45 thief finds treasure just as easily as a 75 thief.

Oh good, we're awesome at running away from things.
Since when has flee ever helped you on a god?

Quote:
Did they make it harder to claim nms?

Since when has Thief ever been good at claiming nms? We have no insta claim unless we sub warrior, then we have no way of telling if the mob pops. All other jobs have just as good of a chance at obtaining it as we do. Plus, SE has made most of our good hard-core money nms (Lizzy, Emperor, Argus) rare/ex. People may laugh saying that a person camping a level 40 nm at 75 is stupid, but look at the alternatives. That's right, every major (and now minor too -_-) NM worth anything is now heavily camped by gilsellers 24/7.

The way I look at it now, every time they add new armor to the game, I look at the cool ways the work around the important or key stats.

flee doesnt make it easier to camp nms? Sub /bst. Widescan, flee, charm for the claim. Or doesn't that work?

I care about a whole lot more than NM camping. Hell, I don't even camp NM's. And thf/bst for HNM camping? (No thanks.)

It always seems that Shao loves to thf bash. He complains non-stop about thf. Hence his move to blm.

Another key point mentioned job specific missions ect. I've done all Rank, Zilart, and most of CoP as thf. At 60+ CoP, We shine even more. I'm on 5-3 and not only can I pick the locks and such, I do well in the BCNMs too. I even kite when necessary.

I like Shao, this is not an attack or anything. I just wish he would quit whining and making post after post on how terrible thf is.

Mohit Smiley: glasses

EDIT: I just beat Snoll Tzar as thf/sam. Loaded up on acc gear and ate a Bison Steak. Pre-charged SA, landed, SADE, Icrus Wing, DE, TA. Then I died from hate but I had enough TP for another DE after meditate. (hate the 60tp instead of 100).

I love thf in CoP missions.

I definitely have something to say to this Ayazz'z statement on boycotting items:

Of course this makes sense.... However, its the "uber" people that bring these 'boycotters' down, with the comments of "You need this, or you need that"...

Technically it is our fault as players for considering what is uber and what isnt, telling others 'you need this..' or 'where's your OKote, you noob?' and then charging over 10 million+ gil for it because of their 'necessities'and "peer pressures" to the job. Noobs don't have this kind of money? So where else do they go? Gilbuying of course! Not too many people like farming for months on end, especially when the prices increase 1 mil a day for an item that only months ago was 300k
-.- .

Items that are made through crafting for example are not the gilsellers fault on all aspects.... The greediness of our own players contributes to this as well. That alone leads to gilsellers and their continuing disease into the system. They add onto this by camping nms and selling things for more just so players can buy the gil to purchase these "uber" items.... which all goes back to step 1....

So in short, everyones to blame.... Not just the gilsellers
