For anyone who has been kicked from a ls, I had a couple of questions:
1) Does it make any noise and/or give you any alert, and
2) Do you still keep your linkpearl, even if it is inactive

It does give you a message but does not tell you who kicked you.

Another thing I've noticed. I was joking with my LS Leader and wanted to see something so I created a seperate pearl for myself and had him kick me.
Little did I know that if you break a pearl and that person has a sack on them, it breaks the sack as well :p
Spent the next 30 or so minutes running around getting another pearl so I could rejoin the LS.
Did not test to see if it breaks the sack if you have the sack in storage and the pearl on you but I'm assuming it'll do the same thing.
Your Pearl will show as Broken once you've been kicked. Rejoining the LS will not fix the broken one, its garbage.

2) The pearl is still in your inventory, but it says "Broken" and you cannot equip it.

and yet even kicked, you still used the LSs site and made pearls for yourself on someone elses char. stalk much?

And I threw away my pearlsack (lol Aeris sacked me once) many weeks ago, before Starblaster quit just to give you an idea and never had a pearl since.

Actually your pearlsack is only broken if the owner breaks your pearl.
I own my own nearly dead social. Seems me and my wife are the only ones left in it. While back I created a pearl and let my friend boot me to make him feel better and it only broke my pearl not my linksack, so ah'm assuming the same hold true for pearlsack.

If you're going to kick someone who has a sack, first you remove their sack and then you break their pearl. It's a two-part move.
So what would happen if the Linkshell holder made another pearl, equipped the pearl instead of the shell, and was kicked by a sack holder?
Would the shell break like the sacks break if they aren't equipped?

No...that's not how the game works. The leaders pearl would break but the shell would be fine. The only time a shellholder or sackholder has control over an item in someone elses inventory (at least direct control) is when it's equipped.
